The new NFL league year is officially here. Other than the surprise restructure of Aaron Jones, in the moments leading up to the start of free agency, the Minnesota Vikings have processed moves that had previously been announced.

Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave have both been released and Harrison Smith’s timeline to decide on retirement has been pushed back, after the Vikings filed for him to be released on June 1.

Other than those moves, the biggest news of the afternoon was the official release of Kyler Murray from his contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Of course, that wasn’t really news either, since it had widely been reported as imminent, as well.

Kyler Murray sets Minnesota Vikings in-person visit

However, Dianna Russini (The Athletic) updated the situation with a new wrinkle in the Minnesota Vikings mutual interest in signing Murray. Unlike what we were told on Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings’ meeting with Kyler will be in-person and it will include a medical physical.

Previously, it had been reported that the 28-year-old former No. 1 overall pick would meet with them virtually, like he planned to with other teams. Not only is Murray now visiting the Vikings in-person, but he’s expected to fly into MSP tonight and visit TCO Performance Center tomorrow.

His physical visit doesn’t guarantee that Kyler Murray will sign in Minnesota, but it certainly makes it even more likely. To put it simply, he isn’t coming here unless he’s getting ready to sign on the dotted line, which is why we probably won’t hear of any more in-person visits scheduled, unless something goes awry while he is at TCO.

Since Murray has been released, media members across the league have confirmed the Minnesota Vikings’ interest the former Cardinals quarterback. The only question now, is whether or not this visit seals the deal, like most expect.

However, as the league learned again this week, when the previously agreed upon Maxx Crosby deal between Las Vegas and Baltimore fell through, is that nothing is guaranteed during the offseason until it is signed in ink.
