Justin Jefferson Vows to ‘Make Every Single Person Pay’, Who Picked a WR Ahead of Him
#Vikings rookie WR Justin Jefferson was asked by @ZachGelb what his reaction was to the #Eagles passing on him: “Every single person that picked a receiver instead of me are going to pay. I’m going to show them that I am the better receiver than the pick that they had.”

Experts and analysts all over the NFL, college football and the draft have been praising the Vikings for their first four selections in last week/weekend’s NFL Draft. The bulk of that praise has been showered on LSU Wide Receiver, Justin Jefferson, who they drafted #22 overall and amassed 111 REC, 1540 YDS and 18 TD last season, pulling in balls thrown by #1 pick, Joe Burrow.
Jefferson falling to #22 wasn’t a surprise. While there were a few murmurs floating around, that some teams valued him over the big three (Lamb, Jeudy, Ruggs III), most thought he’d still be there for the Vikings at the end of the first round, where they picked him.
Justin disagrees… Here is more of what he told Zach Gelb of CBS Radio:
“I mean, yes. I felt like I was the best receiver in this draft class, and being the fifth receiver off the board, it kind of was a shocker. But also having that on my shoulder going into this next season with Minnesota, I’m definitely excited to show the world what I have.”
“Every single person that picked a receiver instead of me are going to pay,” Jefferson said. “I’m going to show them that I am the better receiver than the pick that they had. . . . I’m definitely excited to go into Minnesota and [compete] for [a] Super Bowl.”
“I never really was afraid of pressure. I never really was trying to avoid pressure. Pressure busts pipes. So in order to control everything, you just kind of got to be your own. You got to go in this time, this zone, that you have to be in, having to work out by yourself. You kind of have to be in right now. I’m just putting in the time and the effort and just doing all these workouts, just trying to stay in shape and just trying to go into Minnesota with my mind focused on what I have to accomplish.”
Vikings’ Top Pick, Justin Jefferson on CBS Radio w/Zach Gelb
In the interview, Gelb is focused on the Eagles because I believe that’s where his radio show is based out of and they took (WR) Jalen Reagor at the pick ahead of him (#21).
I don’t know anything about Reagor and nobody’s shocked about where Jefferson landed… but I love that Justin is pissed off about it. There isn’t a great professional athlete in the world who doesn’t carry an unnecessary chip on his/her shoulder.
The pettier the person, the better the athlete. I’m all for quotes like this. Maybe he’ll call out Stefon Diggs tomorrow….
I like this kid. Has he held a zoom call Randy Moss and CC yet? https://t.co/gxf1sLjCdI
