NFL Hands Down Suspension for Jordan Addison

Last summer the Minnesota Vikings dealt with the death of Khyree Jackson. He was killed by a drunk driver. Just over a week later Jordan Addison was pulled over asleep at the wheel.
Earlier this offseason he plead guilty to a “wet reckless” conviction after allowing the legal process to play out. He wasn’t going to win any sort of a jury trial situation, and it was best to admit his fault and move on.
Speculation as to his eventual suspension has been thrown about for some time. Now we know what it will look like.
Minnesota Vikings lose Jordan Addison for three games
Typical suspensions for a DUI-related offense have often been three games. That’s exactly the punishment levied for Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison.
The NFL has suspended #Vikings WR Jordan Addison without pay for the first three games of the 2025 regular season for violating the NFL’s Substances of Abuse Policy.

The Minnesota Vikings kick off their preseason schedule on Saturday against the Houston Texans. Addison will be permitted to play in that game. He can also participate in joint practices against the New England Patriots next weekend.
He will not be active for Week 1 in Chicago against the Bears, Week 2 at home against the Atlanta Falcons, or Week 3 when Joe Burrow and the Bengals come to U.S. Bank Stadium. The first game Addison can be active for is the trip to Dublin, Ireland against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Minnesota will remain abroad in consecutive weeks for an away game against the Cleveland Browns in London.

Last season, Addison’s second as a professional, saw the former USC product produce 875 yards and nine touchdowns on 63 total receptions. He averaged 58.3 yards per game and emerged as a legitimate threat alongside superstar Justin Jefferson.
Where do MN Vikings turn to replace Addison?
It’s virtually impossible to simply replace a standout talent like Addison. The Minnesota Vikings don’t have another wide receiver of his caliber waiting in the wings.
What now needs to happen is Jalen Nailor stepping up, with the depth behind him proving capable. Nailor operated as the WR3 last season and has looked the part during training camp.
Behind Nailor is a plethora of potential options. Veteran Rondale Moore paces the group, but draft pick Tai Felton could be exciting as well. Undrafted free agent Silas Bolden will look to get run, and Lucky Jackson could factor in as well.
If the Vikings are going to replicate the success they saw during a 14-win campaign a season ago, then skill-position talent will need to step up for new quarterback J.J. McCarthy while Addison is out.

It’s an unfortunate situation, but one that could have been much worse had Addison hurt someone, or himself. Instead he’ll be suspended from work for a few weeks, and hopefully return with a hunger that has him ready to make up for lost time.
