Minnesota Vikings WR in Jail Again

Historically, the Minnesota Vikings organization is no stranger to off-field transgressions or jailhouse mugshots. From the Love Boat, to Whizzinator and beyond, we are used to seeing Vikings players in orange.

Unfortunately, talented wide receiver Jordan Addison has been carrying the Vikings’ trouble torch with incredible determination, in recent years.

In his past transgressions, Jordan’s preferred method of disturbance has come on wheels, including a DUI charge that was essentially plead down to reckless driving and a three-game suspension handed down by the NFL.

But this week, the nearly 24-year-old former first round pick is in trouble yet again, after a new mugshot appeared on the internet Tuesday, an arrest that was first reported by Trevor Squire (Heavy).

Addison was reportedly arrested in Tampa Bay, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. He’s being charged with “trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance” — a misdemeanor charge, with bail set at $500.

In common man terms, Addison’s 1st degree misdemeanor charge (FL) essentially accuses him of gaining unauthorized entry somewhere, and/or refusing to leave when confronted.

If guilty, the crime is punishable with up to 12 months in jail, up to 12 months of probation, and/or a fine of up to $1,000. In other words, the optics of Jordan’s latest arrest will have a far greater impact than the direct punishment, itself.

Both Addison’s representation and his head coach are aware of the situation. It seems the former is under the impression he may not have done anything wrong, but they are obviously paid to paint him in the best light. The latter has seen this song and dance play out, and will need to wait and see.

This is the third time Addison has had issues with the law since being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings. He was cited for driving 85 mph over the speed limit in July 2023, one offseason before his aforementioned DUI arrest in the summer of 2024, just days after his teammate was killed by a drunk driver.

How many chances can MN Vikings give Addison?

Ideally, when someone makes a mistake, the hope is that they learn from it, and avoid making the same mistake repeatedly. That applies in all walks of life, not just in the sports world. Clearly, that is not a concept Jordan Addison understands or cares about

Not only did Addison miss three games for the Vikings earlier this year, but he’s ruining future paychecks too. The flashy wide receiver famously said, “let’s go get paid” on draft night. His rookie deal will earn him $13.7 million over the course of four years.

Addison is no Justin Jefferson, but the former USC and Pitt product has generated 2,396 yards and 22 touchdowns across his first 46 NFL games of his professional career, with 2025 being his only outlier disappointment.

The problem for the Minnesota Vikings, or anyone that would choose to employ Addison in the future, is that hes a proven liability off the field.

Next season, the Vikings must choose whether or not to exercise his fifth year rookie option, something that was a guarantee before this latest incident. But now, especially following a down season on the field, is that still a sure thing?

Addison likely sees himself as a number one wide receiver. It’s unlikely that he’ll find a payday to match that belief from Minnesota, or on the open market, because of how he carries himself. Maybe that means the Vikings keep him at a discount and bake in a babysitting clause to his next deal.
