Harrison Smith Agrees to Contract Extension with Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings and their franchise safety, Harrison Smith, have agreed to a 4-year, $64 million contract extension, according to ESPN’s Mike Golic Jr. The new deal will make Harry The Hitman the second-highest paid safety in the league, up ten spots from 12th.

Smith is still one of the league’s best safeties and what he’s done through nine years speaks for itself. Pro Football Focus‘ rates Harry as the NFL’s best safety since 2016 (92.0). He’s also intercepted more footballs than any other safety (28), since entering the league in 2012.

I’d imagine this also clears up more cap space, in the present, to make additional moves before the season begins in two weeks.
