Hired: Former Vikings OC Lands New Job in Carolina

During the 2026 NFL offseason coaching carousel, the Minnesota Vikings saw plenty of familiar names land new coaching jobs around the league.
Meanwhile back at TCO Performance Center, the Vikings cut bait with general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, shortly after striking a deal to bring back defensive coordinator Brian Flores.
The Vikings lost some talent from the coaching staff, just like every other team, but the most notable offseason coaching news mostly revolved around former coaches who landed jobs elsewhere.
Panthers hire former MN Vikings coach Darrell Bevell
On Wednesday, another once-influential MN Vikings assistant coach was added to that list, when he was hired by the Carolina Panthers as their new assistant head coach.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales is still working to turn things around in Carolina, after taking a big step in the right direction last year by winning the AFC South. However, they did it with an 8-9 record so there is plenty of work that needs done.
With the Minnesota Vikings, Bevell served as the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator from 2006 through 2010, before landing in Seattle, where he went on to coach the next seven years, even winning a Super Bowl with Russell Wilson in 2013. It was also in Seattle when Bevell first linked up with Canalas.
Bevell has been around the NFL block
Darrell Bevell — who is now 56 years old, with 13 years of NFL coaching experience under his belt — has never been hired as a full-time head coach, but he has been awarded the interim head coaching tag twice.
In 2020, Bevell went 1-4 as interim Lions head coach. A year later, he went 1-3 with the Jacksonville Jaguars’ interim HC tag. The past four seasons, Bevell has worked as the Miami Dolphins QB coach, where he was tasked with “fixing” Tua Tagovailoa from his Brian Flores PTSD.
This offseason, Darrell Bevell interviewed for the Jets offensive coordinator, before settling for his new assistant head coach role with the Panthers. Darrell Bevell
