Danielle Hunter Trade Rumors and Reports Continue to Pile Up
The Minnesota Vikings do not play today. They will be watching Sunday’s slate of matchups just like us, from their couch, as they wait for their week 7 Monday Night Football matchup vs the San Francisco 49ers.

But more Danielle Hunter trade steam cannot wait. It’s already been going on for weeks now and continued on Sunday morning when Ian Rapoport reported on NFL.com that he’s hearing all sorts of trade chatter revolving around the 29-year-old pass rusher and 2023-24 NFL sack leader.
Teams have been calling the Vikings about potentially trading for Hunter, sources say, with the team leader in sacks likely one of the top players who could be moved at the deadline. Picking up the phone and listening makes sense for Minnesota.
Hunter has a year left on his contract, and with the team’s record at 2-4, great players on expiring deals draw interest. A playoff-ready team with a need on the edge could step in.

What is Danielle Hunter worth in a trade?
Earlier this week, we followed reports and insider conversations that made it clear there are a lot of interested parties, when it comes to Hunter’s future services; meaning, there is a good chance one of these suitors wants Danielle under contract long term.

That is the partner the Minnesota Vikings are likely trying to seek out, if they do move to trading Hunter. A ‘trade and sign’ scenario would allow GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to max out Hunter’s value, possibly even allowing for the Vikings to collect a 1st round pick, in return.
In this morning’s report, Rapoport says the Vikings were fielding multiple trade calls on Danielle, prior to coming to terms on a suitable deal for 2023-24. He also brought up Roquan Smith being traded to the Ravens before the trade deadline last offseason, as a comparable to Hunter. Baltimore sent a 2nd and 5th round pick to Chicago to make that deal.
This isn’t the first time Hunter has been the subject of trade rumors; in fact, several teams inquired about him prior to the season before he eventually struck a deal to return to Minnesota. He has responded with eight sacks, leading the NFL.
Last year, the Bears traded an elite defender at the deadline, dealing Roquan Smith to the Ravens. This year, under the right circumstances, that could be Hunter.

Can the Minnesota Vikings slow down the sell sell sell talk with a win vs the 49ers on Monday night? That is yet to be determined. And even if they do win, does it matter, at this point? All signs clearly point to Kwesi unloading his most talented defensive asset before the Halloween trade deadline.
