Danielle Hunter, Jordan Addison Take Home NFC Player of the Month Honors

The Minnesota Vikings had a pretty impressive October. They finished the month 4-1 and ended it on a three-game win streak.

Two players who were very important to that success were honored on Thursday when Danielle Hunter was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month and Jordan Addison was named NFC Rookie of the Month.

Danielle Hunter Defensive Player of the Month

October was the month of 5’s for Danielle Hunter, who posted 5 sacks, 5 QB hits and 5 tackles for loss, in 5 games. Trade rumors were swirling around Hunter, leading up to the deadline this week, but the Vikings never got an offer that was worthy of moving the NFL sack leader.
Instead, they will head into the offseason with Danielle set to become a free agent. At this point, I have to imagine the Vikings will take a stab at bringing him back. But, at 29 years old, he may play himself out of their price range, if he continues to perform at a defensive player of the month level.

Jordan Addison NFC Rookie of the Month
Jordan Addison’s implementation into the Minnesota Vikings offense was already well underway, prior to Justin Jefferson’s stint on injured reserve. But when that happened, he immediately became Kirk Cousins’ favorite outside target.

Life for Addison will get much more difficult, going forward. With Kirk Cousins ruled out for the season with a torn Achilles that he suffered vs Green Bay, Jordan will no longer have one of the best QBs in the NFL throwing him the football.
Instead, the Vikings will turn to 5th-round rookie out of BYU, Jaren Hall, who was supposed to be a project QB that Kevin O’Connell and Kirk Cousins could slowly bring up to speed. Now, he’ll be thrown into the NFL deep end and told to swim.
Can he keep his head above water and deliver an accurate football to hungry receivers like Addison and Hockenson? We’re about to find out. Oh, and the best receiver in the NFL is eligible to come off IR after this weekend’s game.
