Minnesota Vikings Latest Valuation is Astonishing

The Minnesota Timberwolves just wrapped up the sale of their franchise. Fans are thrilled with the transition of power to Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez. The Minnesota Twins are for sale and the Pohlad family can’t accept an offer soon enough. The Wilf’s aren’t putting the Minnesota Vikings up for sale any time soon, but they’d make a killing if they did.
Of course there are few teams across the American sports landscape that can compete with current franchise valuations in the NFL. The league has become a professional sports behemoth thanks to football being easily the most popular sport in the country.
That’s great news for the Wilf family.
Wilf’s loving return on MN Vikings investment
Mark, Zygi, and Leonard Wilf bought the Minnesota Vikings in 2005 from then owner, Red McCombs, for a cool $600 million. Exactly 20 years later, longtime local columnist Charley Walters (Pioneer Press) is reporting that the Vikings are now worth 11x what the Wilfs originally purchased them for.
“No doubt if the Wilf family, which bought the Vikings for $600 million in 2005, put the Vikings on the market today, they would receive a minimum of $8 billion.”

The latest valuation equates to growth of more than 1,130% what the team was purchased for. Of course the Wilf’s aren’t done investing either. The TCO Performance Center and surrounding area at Vikings Lakes continues to be expanded upon and has room for additional opportunity.
It actually sounds as though the Timberwolves could provide quite the assist to the Vikings if Lore and Rodriguez choose a potential proposed site for the new arena.
“Eagan, as part of the Vikings complex, and Bloomington, adjacent to Mall of America on the southeast side, are considered favored sites for an NBA arena that would replace Target Center under new Timberwolves-Lynx owners Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore.”
Charley Walters – Pioneer Press
Bringing the Timberwolves to Eagan would generate a near year-round reason for fans to flock towards the Wilf’s interests. Additional shopping, dining, lodging accommodations don’t directly impact the bottom line for the Vikings, but will help to prop everything up.
The Wilf’s are arguably the most respected owners in Minnesota, and they certainly seem to fair well across the entire sports landscape as well. Having a strong ownership group that fans feel are truly invested in the success of a team is a benefit that Minnesotans won’t take for granted.
