The Twins and the Tigers played a doubleheader today/tonight and Detroit was able to keep the smouldering bats of the Minnesota lineup relatively quiet in game 1… so predictibly, it was bombs away in game 2.

Pitching 18 innings vs the #MNTwins?

It was a huge day for CJ Cron, who finished the day 5-8 with 4 RBI, 2 Runs and 2 HR. After many were talking about his offensive struggles recently, he now has a .261 batting average, is tied for 2nd in team homeruns, and 3rd in RBI.
The Twins pitching staff came up big again, too. Game 1 wasn’t as smooth as hoped. The Twins gave up 5 runs but Pineda had his best start yet. Unfortunately, Trevor Hildenberger struggled again, giving up 2 runs in the top of the 9th, after the offense had tied the game at 3-3 just before that. You can’t win them all, though.

And of course after losing game-1, game-2 wasn’t even worth watching if you’re a Tigers fan. The Twins dominated the entire thing and didn’t even have to use a regular pitcher. They went from Kohl Stewart (who pitched 6 solid innings), into Matt Magill, Mike Morin, and finished with Tyler Duffey.
We stayed atop the MLB standings with the split and took command of the 4-game series, 2-1.
Tomorrow afternoon will be the game-4, and the final one of this series vs Detroit. It will also be a Twins win.
Guaranteed.
Our new Cy Young lefty, Martin Perez, is scheduled to take the mound and he just had a kid this week so he is riding high on new daddy confidence. There is absolutely NO CHANCE the Tigers have a shot of splitting this series tomorrow. The Twins might win by double-digits and Perez might throw a no-hitter.
