They continue to pursue third baseman Josh Donaldson, according to a source with knowledge of talks between the teams.

The Twins have been in contact with Donaldson’s representatives for most of the offseason, and the club looked at various ways to improve. Finding starting pitching continues to be a priority.

“We’re just nimble,” Levine said. “We realize there’s an opportunity that may materialize throughout the course of this offseason where we could add an offensive piece to the team. We’re somewhat position-agnostic at this point. It appears to be something that will be happening down the path.”

According to LaVelle E. Neal of the Star Tribune, our Minnesota Twins are still hot for 2019 Atlanta Braves 3rd Baseman, Josh Donaldson. Donaldson won the National League Comeback Player of the Year last season (to go with the MVP, (2) Silver Sluggers, and (2) All-Star appearances already on his shelf). Signing the 34-year-old veteran would also, without argument from anyone, move Miguel Sano to 1st Base and solidify the Twins’ infield (Sano, Arraez, Donaldson, Polanco, Garver) as one of the best in the MLB, offensively. Josh would also be an immediate upgrade defensively.

A big-name signing like this at 3B would contradict what I wrote earlier this week, that Sano would be at 3rd for the foreseeable future, which I still believe to be true. The Twins refuse to spend $20M on a pitcher they desperately need. I can’t see them taking that money and giving it to Donaldson, to bolster an infield that’s already near the top of the league… but at this point, I’d just love to see the Pohlad’s open that fucking pocket book and spend anything…

Don’t worry though, because the Twins front office is TRYING really hard. And that’s all that matters right, that we try really hard in life? When you go in for that big job interview or that big presentation, that will make or break your year (or career), it doesn’t matter that you actually perform when the lights go on, right? As long as you stayed up all night prepping and getting ready for those life moments… right? You can fumble, bumble, and stumble your way through a shit-show of a presentation, as long as you tried really hard to prep for it before you got there. Same thing with big tests for those of you who are still in school… The grade you get on that big final doesn’t matter, as long as you studied really hard before you got there…

That’s apparently all we ask of the Minnesota Twins… not that they actually sign someone… just that they try really hard when doing so, right LaVelle? Unfortunately, that’s not the way life works. NORMALLY, trying really hard equates to results… but if it doesn’t, then trying doesn’t matter. You’d might as well just stay home.
