Twins Call Up Alex Kirilloff as 27th Man for Wednesday Doubleheader

The Minnesota Twins are using the pandemic 27th man rule to activate Alex Kirilloff for a one-day, one-game appearance today. According to the rule, Alex can only participate in the regularly scheduled game today, not the rescheduled matchup. That means we’ll see him in game 1, at 1:10 PM. We’ve now seen Kirilloff in two different stints with the Twins and both have been on the oddest of circumstances.

By rule, Alex will have to rejoin the St. Paul Saints at the organization’s alternate site after today’s doubleheader. In more news, Josh Donaldson is expected back for the 2nd of today’s doubleheader and Andrelton Simmons is on the COVID list and has tested positive for the virus.
Simmons told reporters last week that he will not be participating in COVID vaccinations after tweeting such back in March.
