Scammed, Bamboozled, Hoodwinked, Lead Astray at Deadline… by Same Old Twins

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised I’m writing this blog. The new Twins’ Front Office had bamboozled me into believing they were different… Maybe someday I’ll figure it out. First, I need to apologize to all of those who asked me what the Twins would do before the deadline, and I confidently told them “Oh, we’ll get two back-end relievers AND a starter, I think.”…. OR maybe just an old middle-reliever (Sergio Romo) that’s a really nice addition in a good bullpen (which ours isn’t) and then one legit back-end guy (Sam Dyson).

So, less than half of what I thought the Twins needed for a legitimate run at a World Series.

I was reeled in by the flash and smooth talking Falvine train and that will never happen again. They have a once in a decade type of opportunity this year (especially in MN) to really make a run. The New York Yankees didn’t even make a move and their starting pitching might be the worst in the American league.

So, the highway to the World Series is wide open… like 694 at 3:30 in the morning. And we exited off to take the side streets…

Madison Bumgarner didn’t go anywhere and neither did Mike Minor. There were all sorts of relievers still available and, unless I’m proven wrong, Bumgarner could not have been that expensive because the Giants were definitely in sell-mode. We still have tons of great talent in the minors that we don’t have room for on our roster.

Kirilloff, Larnach, and Rooker could all be ready to contribute to an MLB team next season and we have 3 of our best young players already playing those positions. You didn’t want to lose out on Royce Lewis or Nick Gordon? With All-Star Jorge Polanco and the newest MLB superstar Luis Arraez already in taking up the middle infield spots, where are you going to put those two?

The lack of action makes ZERO sense.

Astros Make Leap That Twins Wouldn’t

So while the Twins improved their bullpen a little bit, the Houston Astros went all in on their starting staff… because they know what wins championships in the MLB. Starting pitching.
