jose berrios still cutting himself off mechanically and struggling with locating the gloveside consistently.
june start vs BOS berrios stayed up in the zone with his fastball (35 were 94+ mph). this outing too much middle-middle (9 FBs 94+). pic.twitter.com/A3zqu2dxim

It took me 30 seconds of searching Twitter to find all of this evidence proving Jose Berrios’ poor performance last night, and since the All-Star Break. It’s all laid out in front of you. He isn’t throwing pitches where he needs to be. When he is throwing strikes, he’s throwing them down the middle and the hitters know what is coming. He is a complete struggle bus. It’d really be difficult to argue the opposite.
Unless you are Rocco Baldelli, and lying/dancing around the media is your thing, and you are good at it:

What in the fuck is Rocco Baldelli trying to sell us? Does he think Helen Keller is watching these baseball games? Does he think we are all Helen Keller? You would have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to believe Jose Berrios was good tonight or that he has been good recently. In the tweet above, Parker Hageman literally proves that Berrios was not throwing the ball well, up in the zone. The fastballs that were busting bats high and tight earlier this season, are now being left middle-in, and getting busted by bats, all over the field.
We have a pretty big sample size of bad Jose Berrios, since the All-Star Game but Rocco claims Berrios has been “really good lately” and that his stuff is really “crisp”…
If he is talking about AFTER the ball is hit then he is definitely right about the crispness of those balls because they are burnt to shit, after being lit on fire and sent over the outfield fence. I’m all for positivity and not calling players out to the media, but at the same time, you make a mockery of your entire fanbase and media outlets that cover the Twins, when you spit hyperbole and nonsense in postgame media scrums like this one.
If you are working on something then tell us you’re working on something… If Jose is feeling that something is off then tell us that. If you don’t know what is going on then tell us that…. You don’t have to give specifics or talk bad about anyone. But, to act like Berrios is in the running for Cy Young since the All-Star Break, is to pretend you are speaking to a bunch of idiots who can’t see with their own eyes.
Can we get Mike Zimmer back in front of the mic, please?
