REPORT: Minnesota Twins Fire Manager Paul Molitor

So, while many (including myself) hoped the Twins would keep Paul Molitor around for the forseeable future, it looks like the front office have something else in mind. How quickly it happened following the game 162 on Sunday, says a lot too…

If you remember, owner Carl Pohlad forced the hand of his new front office regime when they were hired two years ago. Taking the job at the top of the Twins’ organization meant your coach for 2017 would be Paul Molitor. Then, when he surprisingly made the one-game playoff last season and won AL Manager of the year, their hand was pretty much forced again.

It would have been a tough stance to take, had the new Front Office fired him after last season. Paul isn’t just another coach for a Minnesota pro team. He’s a Minnesota Legend. It would have taken some large testicular fortitude to fire him after the season he had last year.

So, they waited. However, you have to wonder how itchy they have been to make this move. Again, they didn’t need any more time after 2018 ended, to make their decision.

But now, the bigger question looms….

Who is going to replace Paul Molitor?

I’ll be back once specific names start being released. Until then, here is a list that a writer at MLB.com put together for quality candidates going into this offseason.

UPDATE 1:55 PM, TUES: Here is the first tweet/report, that I’ve seen from a credible source, with names that the team is supposedly looking at for their new coach:
