Official: Twins Ink Paul Molitor to New Extension

We finally know the fate of Paul Molitor and the Twins’ Manager job. Today, Molitor and the Twins inked a 3 year extension that is believed to be worth about $4 Million, according to Lavelle Neal III of the Start Tribune.

Molitor is 227-259 as the Twins’ Manager.

It is somewhat of a Cinderella story, to see Molitor get this job back. Most betting men would have went against him as much as 3-4 weeks ago. Many didn’t even think Molitor would make it through with a playoff appearance. Those people were wrong. However, I would be interested to know how much public opinion and organizational pressures swayed the decision of Falvey and Levine. Many fans and organizational heavyweights voiced their displeasure when Falvine made the decision to oust Doug Mientkiewicz, after finishing in 1st place 4 of his first 5 seasons as a minor league manager.

Either way, Molitor gets to keep his job and now it on to the next set of decisions for Falvine. First, they will have to look at who they will bring back from Molitor’s staff. Those details are yet to be released but this will be updated once it does. There is a lot to be done for the Twins this offseason if they are looking to actually do some damage in the postseason next year.

The Star Tribune is reporting that Pitching Coach, Neil Allen, is fired. That is the first domino to fall. Will more be coming behind him? I’d imagine some will be.
