Minnesota Wins 1st Game in Little League World Series

Wow, what a way to start the Little League World Series! The Minnesota team out of Coon Rapids just defeated Kentucky in a game that was supposed to be played on Thursday, but was rescheduled due to rain. It was a nail-biting pitcher’s dual and the big man and regional tournament hero, Jameson Kuznia was on the mound for the good guys. He was brilliant, pitching 4 2/3 innings and giving up just 2 hits and 4 walks to go with 5 K’s.
They needed his brilliance too because they only put two runs on the board. The first run though… was probably the greatest run to ever be scored in a baseball game.

Kuznia was taken out with 2 outs in the 5th inning and that’s when Jackson Knudson stole the SportCenter Top Ten Plays and saved the game for his home state.

It’s a double-elimination tournament so the Minnesota team out of Coon Rapids will move on in the winner’s bracket. If you have ever played in a double-elimination tournament then you know how important winning that first one is.
Their next game will now be on Sunday at 10 AM vs Virginia, who is 4-0 including regional play. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
