When Will Royce Lewis Return to Minnesota Twins Lineup?

No player has been more productive in their brief time with the Minnesota Twins over the past two seasons than Royce Lewis. Mr. Grand Slam himself kicked off the season by whacking a home run against the Kansas City Royals. Then he hit the injured list. Nearing a return, he won’t have far to go next week.

Coming into the 2024 Major League Baseball season the Minnesota Twins had high hopes for Royce Lewis. Fully healthy and expected to man the hot corner next to Carlos Correa, his home run ability and infectious presence was something that Rocco Baldelli would welcome on a daily basis. Unfortunately his season hit the brakes almost immediately with a severe quad injury.

New York, New York for Royce Lewis?

Having progressed to the point of playing rehab games with the Triple-A St. Paul Saints, Royce Lewis is currently on the road in upstate New York facing off against the Rochester Red Wings (Nationals affiliate and former Twins Triple-A home). That means, he won’t have far to go when rejoining the big league club next week when they are in the Bronx to face the Yankees.

While it may have been fun for Royce Lewis to travel down to Texas, something of a brief home trip, it makes the most sense that he would continue to work on timing before jumping in. Minnesota has a three-game set with the Houston Astros that kicks off on Friday, and then they fly north to New York for three games after the off-day on Monday.

Expect Royce Lewis to shine for Minnesota Twins under bright lights

Few places in Major League Baseball are as heralded or sacred as Yankee Stadium. Of course the current iteration isn’t the one where years of history have been accumulated, but playing a storied franchise at their home digs will always bring out the stars. Suggesting Royce Lewis is anything but the best of those that the sport has to offer would be putting it lightly.

Just a few weeks ago Aaron Boone’s New York Yankees came to Target Field and swept the Twins in a three-game series. Minnesota scored just a single run, and those losses kicked off an ugly seven-game losing streak. Looking to right the ship and even the season series, a sweep to return the favor would be more than welcomed.

Lewis took little time before making his impact felt this season, and he returns to a slash line that includes a 1.000 batting average and 3.500 OPS. With a dinger and single to his credit, Rocco Baldelli will be hoping his presence provides a jolt to a lineup that has more than a few players failing to contribute.
