Twins Get Good News on Correa’s Finger

Breathe out, Minnesota Twins fans. Rocco Baldelli spoke with reporters on Friday afternoon and he came to the pregame scrum bearing good news. Initial testing showed a possible fracture in Carlos Correa’s middle finger, after he was hit by a pitch Thursday vs the Baltimore Orioles, but Friday, the reports were much more optimistic. Outside of some bruising and soreness, it looks like our superstar shortstop is going to be fine.

That means Royce Lewis’ stay with the Twins is going to be short-lived. So make sure you watch him while you can. If Lewis plays well, Carlos Correa can take his time getting healthy. But long term, it’s obvious the Twins need both Correa and Byron Buxton in the lineup to make a postseason run.

Correa’s Hot Streak

We’re all excited to see Royce Lewis’ MLB debut, but the sooner Carlos Correa can return, the better. After a slow start to his Minnesota Twins career, Correa’s bat had caught fire of late. In 8 games since April 28, he hit .412 with 8 RBI and a 1.033 OPS.

Buxton’s bat and the team’s unexpectedly great pitching was the story early in the Twins’ winning streak but Correa’s recent upswing in production played a big part in its longevity.

Happy Friday!
