Twins @ Royals in Game 3 of 4
The Twins came in looking to ensure the series win on Saturday at Kauffman Stadium. With Jose Berrios on the mound and a pretty hot lineup the last couple of games, it seemed likely the Twins would pull it off. The Twins needed a more than quality start from La Makina as the bullpen’s usage in the last few games. However, things got off to a rocky start. Berrios allowed 7 runners on base in the first three innings, but he managed to get out of a couple of jams, with the help of his defense. After the Twins failed to get a hit in the first two innings, Eduardo Escobar tied the game at 1 in the top of the third inning.
The score held that way until the 6th when Byron Buxton hit his 17th homer of the year, a solo shot that should have been 2 but Eddie Rosario got caught stealing the pitch earlier.
The Twins held onto a one run lead until the bottom of the 7th when Alex Gordon tied the game with just his 6th (!) home run of the season. Berrios then handed the ball over to the bullpen in the 8th. That’s where things got interesting. I will give you the shortened version. Ryan Pressly gave up a hit and a walk. Buddy Boshers joined the party. Then Duffey gave up a double, but Rogers got an out (YES!). Busenitz got two and the inning was finally over. 5 pitchers later, the Twins were down 5-2. There was no magic to be had in that 9th inning. The Twins (mostly Molitor) made some interesting (to say the least) decisions in today’s game. People were pissed off, see below.
Paul Molitor is very committed to giving away outs in the late innings with the Twins’ best hitters at the plate. Bad process, bad results.

Eddie Rosario was just caught stealing for the second time tonight. Why? https://t.co/3zxXvM02Xc

I have no problem with Pressly. He’s been good. Not tonight. Boshers and Duffey made no sense. If Rogers was available, y not him v. Hosmer https://t.co/Oaesx4zNDO

And the complaints go on and on.

Gophers WIN BIG @ Beavers
The Gophers DOMINATED on Saturday night vs the Oregon State Beavers. They made up for how they played against a bad Buffalo team. Tyler Johnson came up big again early. We are talking about a kid from North Minneapolis who is wearing a C on his jersey as a sophomore and has made two HUGE splash plays already for big yardage this season. This kid is going to be special.
And Shannon Brooks knows how to put the ball in the end zone and the coaching staff knows that.
Oh and Demry Croft did this just to seal things up.

What a night for the Gophers. What a turnaround by Fleck and his staff. I think this guy goes beyond a salesman. I think Fleck is the real deal but only time will tell.
Next week will be a sneaky tough game against a dreaded Gophers BASKETBALL opponent. They will host Middle Tennessee State at TCF Bank Stadium and the football team will try to beat the team the basketball team couldn’t.
Pitino starts in home visits
Richard Pitino and his Mens basketball team have the best recruiting class in Minnesota in a long, long time, and next week, they try to upgrade, and keep their recruiting class at that level. Coach will skip watching his fantasy football team on Sunday and will visit the homes of Gabe Kalscheur and Jarvis Thomas. On Monday, he and his staff will visit 4 star commit Daniel Oturu. Checking in with current commits is very common. Then on Tuesday, possibly the most important visit of all, is with 4-star 2018 guard Eric Hunter, who, they hope to be the final piece in this unbelievable recruiting class. Hunter out of Indiana, has visits with Purdue, this weekend, Xavier, next weekend, Ohio State, the weekend after, and then the Gophers on September 27-29. If the Gophers get the commitment from this young guard, there would be an unbelievable amount of talent in the 2018 class. Possibly the best ever.
