Dick Bremer Retiring as Minnesota Twins TV Play-by-Play

The TV voice of the Minnesota Twins for the last 40 years, Dick Bremer, is calling it quits. Not for his professional career, but as their television play-by-play announcer. It was announced today that Bremer is moving into a “special assistant” role within the Twins’ front office.

Bremer’s replacement was not part of the announcement. It’s possible we do not find out the next voice of the Twins until they have their TV partner for 2024 figured out. At this point, it doesn’t seem likely there will be a reunion with Bally Sports North.

But, when you’re the play-by-play broadcaster for a baseball team for 40 years, you deserve a left-handed toast without the side-by-side news of who will take your spot. Dick has been the only play-by-play voice on TV for most fans’ entire lives, including me.

I had my issues with Bremer, which is bound to happen when someone sticks around that long. It will be really weird to turn on the Twins and see/hear someone else in the booth calling routine fly balls as if they might be home runs.
