Byron Buxton Sent to Injured List for Extended Stay; Larnach Called Up
There have been a lot of difficult moments for the Minnesota Twins during this underwhelming and so-far disappointing 2021 season. But, the announcement that Byron Buxton is heading to the Injured List for an extended period of time might hurt the most.
Buxton heads to the injured list ranked 1st in the American League in WAR, AB per HR and Slugging %, 2nd in OPS, total bases, adjusted OPS, offensive win % and runs created, and 3rd in home runs and batting average. He’s a legitimate MVP candidate.
#MNTwins placed Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list with a grade two hip strain and called up Trevor Larnach.

Byron Buxton goes on injured list with hip strain. Trevor Larnach added to roster. Buxton likely out for โweeks,โ not 10 days, Rocco Baldelli says.

Trevor Larnach called up for MLB debut
Twins fans have recently been calling for former 1st round pick, Trevor Larnach, but I can promise you this isn’t how they wanted to see him make his debut in the MLB. Larnach is a power bat. I’ve seen him compared a lot to Alex Kirilloff and that’s fair because they play similar positions.
But, Larnach is much more of the classic “power” style hitter, than Kirilloff. He likes to pull the ball and he likes to do it with force. Trevor won’t hit for the average that Kirilloff does or look as natural when he swings to all parts of the field.
He will, however, mash. The former Oregon State Beaver has hit two home runs in three games so far this season with the St. Paul Saints and there will be more homeruns to come.
No doubt about this one, Trevor Larnach ???? pic.twitter.com/C9QXydiyQI
