Buxton MRI Shows No Damage to Knee

Byron Buxton hurt his knee vs the Boston Red Sox on Friday afternoon, sliding feet-first into 2nd base in the first inning. The initial eye test left Minnesota Twins fans weary of yet another injury derailed season for the could-be superstar. It was Buxton’s reaction that was most worrisome. He immediately swatted the dirt underneath him and, even though he limped off the field without assistance, did so screaming into his helmet in frustration.

But then — maybe because of Easter weekend, or maybe because the baseball gods finally decided to cut Buxton and the Twins a break — the MRI results came back, showing no sign of significant damage to Byron’s knee. He’ll travel with the team to Kansas City and could be back in the lineup vs the Royals. Do you believe in miracles?

Rocco Baldelli says MRI showed no damage in Bryon Buxton’s knee. They’ll have team doctor examine him today, but he’ll go with team to KC and could possibly play there.

MRI on Byron Buxton's sore right knee showed no structural issues, Rocco said. No roster move for now. They plan for him to go to KC with the team.
