The Minnesota Timberwolves season is over, meaning we are on the verge of what’s expected to be the busiest offseason since Tim Connelly traded Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.

Obviously, the Wolves’ president of basketball operations doesn’t have that deal hanging on his refrigerator these days, after Julius Randle struggled most of the 2026 postseason, and Karl-Anthony Towns has led the New York Knicks to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.

Minnesota Timberwolves new jerseys + rebrand officially incoming

But that is an article for another time. Today, in a “coincidental” diversion away from the recent light being re-shed on past blockbuster trades, the team announced via social media the official release date of the big rebrand they’ve been teasing for over a year now, which include brand new Timberwolves uniforms.

On social media, they posted a tease of the Wolves’ new color scheme, along with what’s expected to be the new jersey font. The number(s) on the back depict the release date — 6.7 (very funny) or June 7 — of the rebrand and uniform debut.

It’s clear this latest change in Minnesota Timberwolves branding will go back to the organization’s roots — an intention they made clear from the moment they first started floating these changes. From the looks of it, we are getting Old Shep era colors, or something similar, along with Kevin Garnett era lettering.

In the end, as history has taught us, color and detail with these things are just as important as the overall idea, itself. That will be key for this rebrand, especially.

Yes, we all love Old Shep and those colors were some of the best in MN sports history. The KG era trees, with the black, blue and forest green somehow gave Old Shep a run for his money.

But merged together? I have to see what this looks like before I dub it a success. And given this is the first significant change for Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez, this rebrand — and how the fanbase views it — is lowkey important.
