Timberwolves in Trade Talks for Additional Lottery Pick
The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly trying to acquire another lottery pick before the upcoming draft. This latest rumor doesn’t involve trading their #1 overall pick so, if the effort were to bear fruit, they’d end up with two top picks come November 18.
Sources: The Timberwolves are attempting to acquire a second lottery pick. Theyโve had talks with the Hawks for #6. A possible deal could include Jarrett Culver and #17.

A number of teams are interested in Atlantaโs #6 pickโthe Pelicans and Celtics being among them, sources say.
Jarrett Culver has been a mess since day one. Keep in mind, Culver was the 6th overall pick in 2019. Perhaps Atlanta would take him, plus the 17th pick, in return for this year’s 6th. It seems like a solid deal for both sides. Still, it’s always difficult to decipher between what is legitimate and what is a smoke screen, when we get this close to draft day.
I’m not sure what Gersson Rosas would be trying to pull off here, but I trust him to do the right thing. Maybe he’d use both lottery picks as trade bait or I suppose it’s possible he does covet two players up that high. Leading up to now, we’ve seen him posturing to trade away his #1 overall pick… not stay put and add more lottery selections.
More is coming out on why the Wolves are trying to unload Jarrett Culver.
The motivation for trading Jarrett Culver, at least in part, would be financial

#6 — next year salary: $5.8M, full salary: $26.4M over 4
Culver – next yr: $6.1M, full: $20.3M over 3
#17 — next yr: $3.0M, full: $14.3M over 4
Culver + 17 for 6 creates $3.3M in space below tax
The NBA draft is exactly one week from now (November 18) so expect the rumor mill to get even hotter. Do the Minnesota Timberwolves make the first pick that night? We’ll see.
