The end of the 2026 NBA All-Star Break is quickly approaching. In fact, the Minnesota Timberwolves will be back in action on Friday, with Anthony Edwards toting his first NBA All-Star MVP trophy.

But the biggest addition for Minnesota’s stretch run is Ayo Dosunmu, who was acquired before the trade deadline. A few days before the Dosunmu deal, the Wolves traded Mike Conley to the Chicago Bulls for luxury tax relief.

Mike Conley returns to MN Timberwolves

He never appeared in a game for Chicago. Shortly after, Mike was moved again to Charlotte, a deal that allowed the 38-year-old to be signed by the MN Timberwolves on a prorated veteran minimum, once the Hornets ultimately waived him.

And on Tuesday, Conley’s return to Minnesota became official. The 1x NBA All-Star and 4x NBA Sportsmanship Award winner last played on February 2, a 128-137 Minnesota loss vs Memphis.

Now that he’s back on the roster, we’ll see how many minutes head coach Chris Finch has set aside for his veteran point guard. Even with his numbers through the floor (4.4 PPG, 32.2% FG), Conley was still averaging 18.5 minutes per game, prior to his brief trade deadline departure.

Ultimately, Conley’s locker room presence and veteran savvy is why he’s back with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He doesn’t have to see the floor to make an impact. WE’ll see if Chris Finch understands that now that the Wolves are much deeper.
