Derrick Rose Tells Non-Believers to Kill Themselves

Derrick Rose got firey today when answering questions about Tom Thibodeau and those who do or don’t believe in him. This is one of those moments where I wish I could see the faces of those in the press circle…

Derrick Rose reflects on Thibs: “He was the only coach that believed in me… No teams wasn’t looking for me at all. I was basically out the league. Even coming here, everybody didn’t know I was going to play this way.” pic.twitter.com/IUTz7tEUPn

First, if you are looking for some PC rant about how Derrick Rose doesn’t care about depression or suicide victims, you’ve come to the wrong place. I have no idea how Derrick Rose feels on these issues and this comment doesn’t reveal it either. Some might have found the word combinations of “fuck yourself” or “get lost” or if you’re Joe Mauer, “well thank you for that”.
His words are going to catch fire and be talked about over the entire next news cycle even though EVERYONE knows he meant nothing toward those who struggle with suicidal thoughts. We need to get out of this sensitive culture before our kids are doomed forever.
I tell my family and friends every day that I’m going to kill them. If you are a friend, and you give me bad news, I’m going to tell you that I will kill you. I won’t though, because I’m not a fucking psychopath.
And even worse, all confessions on the table, I tell my wife that kids are dumb in front of my kids. Well, they are… smaller brains… it’s science.

Rose’s comments were eye-popping though, and definitely made me pick up my phone.
Derrick is a passionate dude. That much is for sure. I wonder how much of this has to do with Tom’s firing. Are Derrick’s feelings hurt? I’d be shocked if Rose ended up back here anyway but it is interesting to think about what we’ll do at point guard if both he and Teague leave after this season.
Due to money and “bird rights” Tyus is almost a MUST-SIGN just because we won’t be able to afford anybody that will carry his price tag without having rights to go over the cap. He’s a Restricted FA this offseason.
Anyways, I’m rambling. I hope you enjoyed Rose’ rant.

And on queue, Derrick has already apologized. He didn’t mean it literally (just like we all knew).

I messed up by using the slang term “kill yourself” today in response to a question about whether I can continue to perform without coach Thibs. I did not mean it literally and regret using it so I apologize.
