Anthony Edwards Can’t Save Team USA from Upset vs Germany, Killing Gold Medal Dreams
Team USA lost to Germany this morning 113-111, in a nail-biting FIBA World Cup semifinal game that came down to the final seconds, eliminating the US from gold medal contention. Anthony Edwards was America’s best player again, filling up the box score with 23 points (59% FG), 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.
It wasn’t for lack of effort or clutch shooting by Ant. He hit some big shots and made huge plays down the stretch, that nearly brought Team USA back from the late deficit they faced in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, when the final buzzer sounded, Edwards came up one clutch make away from pushing his team to the next round.

The tournament isn’t over for Anthony Edwards and Team USA, though it’s clearly a failed mission now that the Gold and Silver Medals are out of reach. On Sunday, they will play vs Canada for the Bronze Medal before Germany and Serbia meet in the Gold Medal game.
