Very rarely do we see millionaires and billionaires play such a public game of cat and mouse. Yet that’s exactly what’s transpiring with Glen Taylor on one side opposing Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez as they battle over majority control of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Lore and A-Rod were under the impression that their purchase of the Timberwolves was essentially set in stone, thanks to their previous agreement with Taylor. Yet the Timberwolves and Lynx owner felt otherwise, especially when Lore and A-Rod failed to back up their words with the proper payment amounts.

Despite these public disputes, Taylor says both Lore and Rodriguez can still keep control of their minority shares, but becoming the majority owners may be out of the question. However, Lore is singing a MUCH different tune. Meanwhile, Rodriguez was much more blunt than his fellow businessman and resorted to calling Taylor “childish.”

Lore: “We’re going to be the owners of the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s just a matter of time, and how much pain Glen wants to put the fans, the players, the town and community through. It’s his choice. It didn’t have to be this way.”

A-Rod: “Think about it from our end: If we had an ironclad agreement, like we do, would we be talking about how Marc and Alex are more worried about the owners suite than making real [basketball] trades? It’s so f***ing childish. But you only do that when you don’t have any ground to sit on.”

Obviously, this is a frustrating situation for everyone. Taylor wanted the duo to deliver on their payments right away. For Lore and Rodriguez, having their financials dragged through the public mud can’t help matters either.

Someone will own the Minnesota Timberwolves when this is done…

However, as explained on Dane Moore’s podcast, Lore believes the situation is more of a case of Taylor feeling like he’d rather capitalize on the Timberwolves’ soaring franchise values himself.

“I think Glen (Taylor) just decided, as he said, that this team is worth a lot more than when he did the deal, and he no longer wants to abide by the contract. It’s plain and simple.”

It’s not hard to see why both sides are so dug into the sand on this one. They see the rising stock of the Timberwolves franchise and want their fair share.

Who can blame them? Anthony Edwards is pretty awesome, and the Timberwolves have a very bright future ahead. Does Glen Taylor have seller’s remorse? Maybe. Should Lore and A-Rod have paid their bills on time? Of course. Shit happens.
