Minnesota Lynx Draft Star PG Olivia Miles

While the fire is still smoldering from the excitement that was March Madness, the WNBA regular season is just around the corner. Free agency has already started and the Minnesota Lynx are looking to reload.
After losing to the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA semifinals, Cheryl Reeve is hoping to put her squad back atop the sport. The Lynx finished with a 34-10 record to lead the Western Conference.
However, trading back one spot so the Chicago Sky could select Angel Reese in 2024 netted the Lynx a future draft pick that eventually evolved into the No. 2 overall selection in tonight’s 2026 WNBA Draft. After UConn’s Azzi Fudd went 1st overall to Dallas, all attention turned to Minnesota.

An elite playmaker whose creativity in transition is generational, Miles is a pass-first point guard with size who can immediately run a team. Her perimeter confidence and effectiveness have grown immensely the last two seasons, and Miles has grown as an on-ball defender as well.

Miles becomes the highest draft pick in TCU history. After playing four seasons with Notre Dame, Miles transferred to Fort Worth for her final season, where she started 38 games for the Horned Frogs, averaging 35.4 minutes per game.
Despite her reputation as a pass-first point guard, Olivia averaged 19.6 points per game on 48.1% from the floor, to go with 6.6 assists and 7.2 rebounds per game. Miles was named to four separate All-American teams this season and helped lead TCU to a 32-6 record and final AP Poll ranking of 6th in the nation.

Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride are the lone returning veteran guards. Rookie Reigan Richardson and third year player Jaylyn Sherrod will also fill out the roster.
MN Lynx close draft with Lani White
After making their pick at second overall, the Minnesota Lynx had to wait a while. The only other selection was 15th in the third round, the final pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft. They landed Utah shooting guard Lani White.

A 5’11” guard from California, White spent her first two seasons at Utah before transferring to Virginia Tech. After a single season in Blacksburg, she returned to Utah to finish out her collegiate career.
As a senior, White averaged 15.9 points per game and nailed 46.2% of her shots from the field. She also shot 40.4% from deep and contributed 4.7 rebounds per game.

It will be interesting to see how Cheryl Reeve filters White into her plans. White was teammates as a freshman and sophomore with since waived 2024 Lynx first round pick Alissa Pili.
