Lynx WNBA Title Game 5 vs Sparks
The Lynx were able to out-last the Los Angeles Sparks to win the WNBA Championship after failing to do the exact same thing last year. Beat the Sparks in 5 games at home. Last year it was at Target Center. This year it was at Williams Arena. They couldn’t get it done in Target Center. They did get it done at The Barn.
The champions … again!

Minnesota Wild Season Starts Thursday:
The Minnesota Wild will start their season on Thursday night @ Detroit against the Red Wings. It’s the classic story this season with the Wild. Zach Parise is hurt coming into the year while they are having issues filling out the roster with good players because of his salary. But, the Wild’s young stars showed promise last season and some of them got paid like it in the offseason. We will see if Charlie Coyle, Mikael Granlund, and Nino Niederreiter can take the torch for the Wild.
Devan Dubnyk will need to be the guy that he was at the beginning of last season, for the Wild to really make that Stanley Cup push. He will need to be at top form all year. That also means his backup, Alex Stalock needs to be trustworthy enough to put out there on a semi-regular basis, so Dubnyk can stay fresh all year.
The Wild will rely on veteran guys all season. Matt Cullen, the SCSU grad, was notably picked up earlier in the offseason. But the Wild were also able to sway Daniel Winnik to sign for a clearance blowout sale type bargain of just $660,000 for this season. He will fill out their roster very nicely. The Wild have built the type of team that should succeed. Losing Parise for a few games isn’t a big deal but they will need him healthy for the meat of the season, especially as they enter into the postseason. The Central won’t be easy.
Thursday’s game will be on Fox Sports North and will start at 6:30 PM.
Here are some of last year’s highlights to hold you over.
Twins Lose to Yankees Aftermath:
I am finishing an article on a recap of the Twins’ season and a forecast for the offseason. Until then, here are some articles and highlights to what the world had to hold, for the Twins, the day after they lost to the Yankees…. again.
From all of us at the #MNTwins, we thank you, our fans, for your support this season.

Timberwolves Game 1 of China Preseason Series Thursday vs Warriors:
While most of us are sleeping here in Minnesota, the Timberwolves will be playing basketball. They only have two preseason games left before they start regular season play. Both those games will be played in China and both games will be played against the NBA Champion, Golden State Warriors. I really like the take from Jace Frederick here so I would recommend you read it.
For the same reasons why nobody wants to play the Warriors in the regular season, every team should want to play them in the preseason.
Two preseason games against Golden State should reveal weaknesses for this renovated Timberwolves roster https://t.co/nDR6Uxyfta
