Another Minnesota Gopher men’s basketball player has entered the NCAA transfer portal and this one could hurt. Liam Robbins transferred from Drake to Minnesota last offseason to join his uncle, and Minnesota assistant head coach, Ed Conroy. Now, after a successful 2020-21 power-5 debut, the 7-footer is hitting the transfer portal again.

In his one season with Minnesota, the Drake transfer put up very nice numbers, averaging 11.7 points, 6.6 rebounds. His 2.7 blocks per game led the Big Ten.

When Liam Robbins hit the transfer portal this morning, he become the 9th Gopher to enter since last season started. At this point, you’ll find it much easier to list those who haven’t entered (Gach, Ihnen and Johnson) than those who have. But just in case you forgot, the names in the portal now include: Marcus Carr, Jamal Mashburn Jr, Gabe Kalscheur, Jarvis Omersa, Tre Williams, Sam Freeman, Liam Robbins, David Mutaf and Martice Mitchell.

The Minnesota roster currently has just 6 players committed to playing men’s basketball next season. The three remaining from last year’s roster are set to be joined by three transfer commitments, Jamison Battle, EJ Stephens and Luke Loewe.
