PJ Fleck’s 2021 Decommitment Total Climbs to Three…
P.J Fleck and University of Minnesota Gophers football team have received their third decommitment in the past month. Late Tuesday night, 3-star OLB DโMarion Alexander from China Spring (TX) High School, announced his Gophers decommitment via Twitter.ย

Alexander writes in his note, that he, โdidnโt plan on [decommitting] at all. But due to recent situationsโ, he did. With campuses across the country now starting to open up, Alexander has decided to explore every option at his disposal. Iโm sure that includes taking visits to other campuses.ย
For those clinging to hope that Alexander will still land in Minnesota… he hasn’t completely shut the door yet, but donโt get your hopes up. When new people get into a kidโs ear, and he pulls his commitment like this, rarely does he commit again.
โI hope that we will meet again later on down the road…”

Other Decommitments
As mentioned before, Alexander is the third player to decommit from Minnesota Gophers in the past month. All three players were a part of the 2021 recruiting class. He happens to be the second decommitment from the state of Texas.
On May 25, La Porte (TX) High School DT Albert Regis decommitted. Regis has not announced anything further regarding his commitment, but Minnesota still looks like a player in his recruitment.ย
The other decommitment came at the hands of 4-star ATH Sam Jackson, from Naperville (IL) High School. Jackson, who committed to the Gophers twice (just to decommit twice), is now verbally with Purdue, where he will get a chance to play Quarterback. Jackson was likely to be relegated to WR, with the Gophers, given Athan Kaliakmanis is already king QB of that class.
Alexander’s Possibilities
Alexander originally committed to the Gophers over Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, and Kansas, so I wouldnโt be surprised if he takes visits to those schools this summer. He broke down some of his options back in April.
Alexander is ranked 820th nationally and 120th in Texas, for the 2021 recruiting class (according to 247sports.com).ย The Gophers football 2021 recruiting class now ranks 15th nationwide and 5th in the Big Ten.
