Richard Pitino Interviewing for New Mexico Job on Saturday?
Richard Pitino is reportedly getting ready for a big job interview on Saturday. “A little birdie” is telling Charley Walters (Pioneer Press) that he’s trying to be the next men’s head basketball coach at the University of New Mexico. Home of the Lobos.
Yes as far as we know, Richard is still the head basketball coach at the University of Minnesota.
A little birdie says Richard Pitino interviews Saturday for New Mexico basketball coaching job. Ex-Nebraska coach Tim Miles, who would love Gophs job, was to interview on Friday.

Charley is an esteemed columnist for the Pioneer Press and rarely hops on Twitter unless it’s worth his time. He hadn’t tweeted since February 21, until today. But, Richard Pitino booking job interviews while he’s still officially head coach here, seems worthy.
Remember if Richard Pitino can find a “soft landing spot”, it’s possible the University of Minnesota could avoid paying his $1.75 million buyout. That’s coming from our guy Darren Wolfson (SKOR North).
As always, we’ll keep you updated.
