Martice Mitchell Becomes Latest Gopher MBB Player to Enter Transfer Portal
Some loves come and some loves go and it looks like a once-beloved 4-star Minnesota Gopher commit is entering the transfer portal, as new head coach Ben Johnson continues a program overhaul. Martice Mitchell was a freshman this season and came in as a 4-star project (247Sports) that couldn’t find the floor in a 2021 lineup that desperately needed help in the paint.
Hopefully he lands at a good (smaller) program that can help develop him into a good college basketball player.

Mitchell becomes the 7th player, who started the 2020-21 season on the Gophers roster, to enter the transfer portal since play got underway. You shouldn’t see that as a negative. This is a year of college free agency and most teams across the country are going to look completely different.
It’s the best time in the history of college basketball to go through a coaching change.
