Jamal Mashburn Jr Enters Transfer Portal
This one hurts but Jamal Mashburn Jr came to the University of Minnesota because he wanted to play for Richard Pitino. In case you haven’t heard, Pitino Jr isn’t here anymore. So while one might try to live in denial, reality usually has a way of finding you. Thus was the case when news broke this afternoon that Jamal Jr was entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Jamal Mashburn Jr has entered the transfer portal.

Not a surprise at all considering his connections to Richard Pitino and his fit in Pitino's system, but a blow.
Jamal averaged 8.2 points a game this year shooting 35 percent from the field, 27.6 percent from the arc. pic.twitter.com/5Wb0rb4EsK
We don’t yet know if Mashburn Jr will pack his bags and take a direct flight to Albuquerque to join Richard, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s the next headline that releases.
Either way, there will now be even more work to do for whoever the next Minnesota Gophers head basketball coach is. Good luck to Jamal Mashburn Jr. That kid has a bright future.
