Dalvin Cook Practiced Again Friday and Expects to Play Sunday

If there’s ever been a week-3 must-win game for an NFL team, it was last week when the 0-2 Minnesota Vikings welcomed the 1-1 Seattle Seahawks to US Bank Stadium. Thanks to a raucous home crowd and an elite performance from Kirk Cousins, they got the victory they desperately desired and did it in convincing fashion. Oh, and they pulled it off without their best player, Dalvin Cook.

While we all loved seeing Kirk take over a game and lead the purple to victory like he did last week, it’s not something the Vikings coaches want to test out as something that might be sustainable. We’re all high on a smoking-hot Kirk Cousins but this team will not make the playoffs without Dalvin Cook regularly lining up behind or next to him.

Week 4 Status

That brings us to week 4. The Vikings are preparing for a Noon home game against former offensive coordinator, Kevin Stefanski and his 2-1 Cleveland Browns. Dalvin Cook has been limited in practice all week and did practice again on Friday morning. His status for the weekend is still up in the air and he’s on the official injury report as “Questionable” for Sunday.

Tom Pelissero (NFL Network) was able to talk to Dalvin, himself, when he came off the practice field on Friday. Cook painted a pretty positive outlook for the fans and his fantasy owners. Barring any setback during the next 48 hours, Cook said he plans to play Sunday. When asked how close he might be to feeling 100%, Dalvin told Tom that he’d put himself in the 90th percentile.

Here’s the full clip from NFL Network.

After the Vikings duped much of the media room and fanbase into thinking Cook would be ready vs Seattle, even after he didn’t practice for most of last week, local insiders seem hesitant to give any hints on Dalvin’s possible availability vs Cleveland.

Darren Wolfson (KSTP – Ch. 5) was on SKOR North with Phil Mackey and Judd Zulgad on Thursday afternoon. He gave the best 1st-hand update I’ve seen yet. According to Doogie, Dalvin Cook is looking a lot better than he did last week. While even with all of this positive news coming out as the day goes on, Cook’s status isn’t guaranteed until he takes a few carries on Sunday. Still, this is a feel-good news day for the Minnesota Vikings and anyone who wants to see them win games.
