Byron Buxton to Resume Rehab Assignment with Saints on Thursday

The Minnesota Twins still plan for Byron Buxton to play outfield for the big league club this season. At least, that’s what they told us last week, when Buck received a cortisone shot in his bad knee.

Byron Buxton re-starts rehab assignment with Saints

That process will start on Thursday, with less than two weeks remaining in the 2023 regular season, when Buxton re-starts his rehab assignment with the St. Paul Saints. Byron is expected to be in the Triple-A lineup as the squad’s designated hitter.

Byron Buxton was on a rehab assignment with the St. Paul Saints a couple of weeks ago, when he was lifted after two plate appearances due to soreness in his patellar tendon (knee). Two nights earlier, he started the rehab assignment playing center field for the first time since August 2022.

If Buxton is going to crack the Twins’ wildcard round playoff roster, he will have to prove he can play center field without needing a week off right after. This is the first step (again) in that happening. We’ll see if his recent cortisone shot has helped his knee enough to withstand 9 innings in the outfield.
