While the the 2025 draft class wasn’t very big, Kwesi hopes to change his rookie fortunes in 2025, and that starts with Vikings rookie minicamp.

On the other side of the player acquisition coin, Kwesi hasn’t had any issues identifying free agents, and that includes a high success rate in undrafted free agency. But this weekend, with all the early offseason moving and grooving complete, it’s time to start getting players on the field.

Friday, all of the youngsters signed since the “2025 NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting” (plus 1st rd pick Donovan Jones, who has not yet signed) arrived in Eagan at TCO Performance Center to get work in with their new MN Vikings teammates and coaches.

All 51 participants at 2025 Minnesota Vikings rookie minicamp

In total, there are 51 players working out at Vikings facilities this weekend. All of them are listed below. Minnesota has 31 rookie minicamp participants already under contract. They brought in 20 more unsigned youngsters, including Randy Moss’ son Montigo Moss, to try and earn their spot.

Underneath the list of Minnesota Vikings rookie minicamp participants, is some analysis on the team’s 2025 Undrafted Rookie Free Agency class via Thor Nystrom (FantasyLife.com), who ranked it No. 1 in the entire NFL.

There are plenty of different reasons a talented NFL-caliber player gets passed over during all seven rounds of the NFL Draft. And when high-caliber players fall through the cracks, the Minnesota Vikings have been really good at identifying those who can play in the league. This year’s class was no different.

Expect MN Vikings UDFAs to claim roster spots

FantasyLife.com NFL Draft guru Thor Nystrom has ranked Minnesota’s undrafted free agent class top five every year Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell have been the head decision makers. In 2025, however, he ranked them No. 1 overall.

In this year’s UDFA class, Thor specifically pinpoints Logan Brown (his top-rated UDFA), his former linemate Joe Huber, Gopher QB Max Brosmer, RB Tre Stewart, along with EDGE Tyler Batty. One coach not in the MN Vikings organization even believes that UDFA linebacker Austin Keys will beat out sixth round pick Kobe King.

The Vikings’ class is headlined by Kansas OL Logan Brown, my top-ranked overall UDFA. Brown, seen as a mid-rounder by most analysts heading into the draft, is going to make this roster… OG Joe Huber is also someone to monitor in camp. Brown and Huber—former teammates at Wisconsin—will battle 2024 draft picks Walter Rouse and Michael Jurgens in camp for bench spots.

QB Max Brosmer and RB Tre Stewart, meanwhile, will take on QB3 Brett Rypien and RB3 Ty Chandler, respectively. Each has a legitimate shot. Because of the team’s precarious depth situation at tight end, TEs Benjamin Yurosek and Bryson Nesbit might ultimately be battling with one another for a roster spot. If neither impresses this summer, look for the Vikings to be monitoring August tight end cuts from other rosters.

EDGE Tyler Batty was right on the draftable line for me. He’s a four-year starter at BYU with a north/south game, generating speed-to-power. Batty has the frame and game to hang around as a 3-4 defensive end.

An NFL coach—not on the Vikings staff—told me after the draft that LB Austin Keys might have been a fifth-rounder were it not for injuries. This coach believes Keys will beat out sixth-round pick LB Kobe King if Keys stays healthy this summer.”

Thor Nystrom – Fantasy Life

Nystrom also points out in his piece that six UDFAs have made the Vikings’ Week 1 roster over the past three years — Ryan Wright, Ivan Pace Jr., Gabriel Murphy, Taki Taimani, Bo Richter, and Dwight McGlothern.

Although Donovan Jackson was drafted to immediately start at left guard for the Minnesota Vikings, Thor seems to have a lot of faith in both Logan Brown and Joe Huber hanging around the team this season too, even if that is just on the practice squad. Thor isn’t the only guy who likes Brown, either.

Minnesota Vikings supplemented a small draft class

Part of the talking points heading into the 2025 NFL Draft was about just how few picks the Minnesota Vikings had at their disposal. But with Kwesi running the show, the Vikings are gaining a reputation for finding talent on the fringes, then developing those players into legitimate NFL contributors.

Silas Bolden is another player worth keeping an eye on. The Texas Longhorns wideout handled 30 punts last season and his 315 return yards paced the SEC. He even housed one for the second straight season.

As camp goes on this summer, there will be other unknown names that emerge from the list of rookies above. The more of them that hit, the greater opportunity Minnesota has at upside options with cost-controlled contracts.

All 20 Minnesota Vikings Undrafted Free Agents https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-vikings/undrafted-free-agents-2025-udfa-signings/ Sun, 27 Apr 2025 03:07:47 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=62754 The Minnesota Vikings wrapped up their 2025 NFL Draft by making a total of five selections. Donovan Jackson was the gem of the class as he was taken 24th overall. Kwesi Afodo-Mensah maneuvered throughout the draft process and traded back multiple times. Ultimately he wound up with an additional selection in the sixth round.

Minnesota didn’t get involved during the seventh round, but they quickly got to work after Mr. Irrelevant’s name was called. As has been the case in recent seasons, the Vikings compiled a sizable class of undrafted free agents.

2025 Minnesota Vikings undrafted free agents

Prior to the draft, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah did plenty of work in free agency, a spending spree that allowed the Vikings to remain patient during the draft. When the 2025 NFL Draft ended on Saturday, they supplemented their five-man draft class 20 Minnesota Vikings undrafted free agents.

The big name on the list is Minnesota Gophers quarterback Max Brosmer. He entered the weekend hoping to hear his name called, at some point. That’s now how reality unfolded, however.

Instead, he went undrafted, then got $250K guaranteed to join what has to be the youngest QB room in the NFL, with JJ McCarthy (22), Brosmer (24), the old man in the room they really like, Brett Rypien (28) and newly acquired Sam Howell (24), who was acquired via draft day trade on Saturday.

Given the large contingent of Vikings coaches and scouts at the University of Minnesota Pro Day, it’s not a surprise to see Brosmer wind up in purple. Nonetheless, he will have an uphill battle to make the roster, but the practice squad will be there waiting for him too.

Max Brosmer posted a very solid 66.5% completion rate for the Minnesota Gophers in 2024, good for 2,828 passing yards and 18 touchdowns. Max transferred to Minnesota, after winning FCS MVP for the University of New Hampshire in 2023, before he put up one of the best seasons in a storied U of M football history.

Roster competitions for new Vikings free agents

There are a couple of other notable trends to key in on, with the 2025 Minnesota Vikings undrafted free agency class. They signed four players from Auburn. One of them is a punter, Oscar Chapman, who’ll present yet another training camp competition for Ryan Wright.

Chapman was a five-year starter for the Tigers, where he averaged 43.5 yards per punt. Ryan Wright bounced back last season after a poor sophomore season, though his 46.5 yards per punt was the lowest of his career. His 8.9% touchback rate wasn’t the 1.4% he posted as a rookie, either, but it did come in below his 11.9% from 2023. Ryan Wright also landed 27 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard-line last year, up ten from the season prior.

Although Minnesota drafted tight end Gavin Bartholomew in the sixth round, they’re still looking for more tight end depth, with both Nick Muse and Johnny Mundt gone. Thus, the Vikings are hoping they found some under-the-radar college talent in Bryson Nesbit and Ben Yurosek, who could factor into the 53-man roster conversation, depending on how the next three-four months go.

Cornerback is arguably the weakest position group on roster, entering summer workouts. Yet, the Minnesota Vikings added just two CBs in undrafted free agency. In total, 8 of the Vikings’ 20 UDFA signings came on the defensive side of the ball. Is there any chance Kwesi Adofo-Mensah found his next Ivan Pace Jr. from this group? Let’s cross our fingers.

New punt returner for the MN Vikings?

Last season, it was Brandon Powell who handled all but one punt return for the MN Vikings. He is no longer part of the organization. While Jalen Nailor and Ty Chandler could factor in there, undrafted free agent Silas Bolden may be the best fit.

After four years at Oregon State, Bolden transferred to Texas last season. He caught 23 passes for 267 yards and one touchdown. His 30 punt returns led the SEC though, and he housed one of them. In 53 career collegiate games, Bolden has 41 kick returns, 33 punt returns, and two touchdowns.

The 5’8″ wideout is a speedster. At his pro day Bolden was clocked at sub 4.4 speed during his 40-yard-dash. That burst could have him being an intriguing option for Kevin O’Connell to brandish out of the gate.

It’s unlikely Bolden factors into the passing game after Minnesota selected Tai Felton in the third round. That won’t stop him from potentially being a strong special teams player right out of the gate.

Max Brosmer is Staying in Minnesota https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-vikings/max-brosmer-signed-udfa-2025-qb-gophers/ Sat, 26 Apr 2025 23:48:43 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=62751 This weekend, the Minnesota Gophers were hoping to have their first quarterback drafted to the NFL since 1972 (Craig Curry – Dolphins). Unfortunately, whether it was the hometown Minnesota Vikings or the 31 other teams in the league, nobody was willing to spend a draft pick to land Max Brosmer, who proved himself to be one of the best QBs in Golden Gopher history last season.

Minnesota Vikings sign former Gophers QB Max Brosmer

But it only took a minute or two, once the NFL Draft came to an end on Saturday, for Brosmer to sign as an undrafted free agent. Better yet, he isn’t going anywhere. Instead, Max Brosmer is staying in Minnesota and signing with the Vikings, who gave him $250,000 guaranteed.

Brosmer’sĀ 2024 seasonĀ at Minnesota — 66.5% CMP | 2,828 YDS | 18 TD | 6 INT — is a one of the top 5 in Gopher QB history. After a great season, Brosmer impressed at the East-West Shrine Bowl, widely considered the second-best All-Star bowl game for draft-eligible college football players.

His impressive week came afterĀ he originally accepting an inviteĀ to the lower-tiered Hula Bowl. After that, he earned an invite to the NFL Combine, before showing off his leadership and arm talent at the Minnesota Gophers Pro Day. Now, he’s on his way to TCO Performance Center to join the Minnesota Vikings.

Did the Vikings Tip Their Hand on Which UDFAs Will Make the Roster? https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-vikings/minnesota-vikings-rumors/minnesota-vikings-udfa-guaranteed-money/ Wed, 22 May 2024 00:53:27 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=51157 At the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings announced they had agreed to terms with 17 undrafted free agents. Most of these players will be working toward the goal of earning a roster sport by the start of the season.

This Vikings’ regime really seems to value the undrafted free agent market. They’ve hit on some diamonds in the rough such as Ivan Pace Jr., Andre Carter II, and NaJee Thompson. Pace Jr. started most of 2023 and has even shown glimpses of elite inside linebacker play.

Although most of them likely won’t make the final 53-man roster, the Vikings have tipped their hand a bit on which players they have the most faith in, based on the amount of money they have guaranteed them.

How much money are Minnesota Vikings UDFAs guaranteed?

While not all of the undrafted free agent class contracts have been posted, there are a few of them that have. Let’s just say, some of the numbers may surprise you. At least for a few of them.

According to Over the Cap, here are several Vikings’ undrafted free agents guaranteed money given by the Vikings:

It’s quite the spectrum of guaranteed money given out. Everything from $15K (Bo Richter) to $245K (Gabriel Murphy). Comparing those to this year, you can see that Murphy and Jones got exponentially more money compared to the others.

Guaranteed money this year vs last year

Looking at how much they individually guaranteed UDFAs from last year’s class, Gabriel Murphy and Jeshaun Jones’ deals stand out as very similar to what Andre Carter II ($340K) and Ivan Pace Jr. ($236K ) got last year. Both, as already mentioned, made the final 53-man roster and contributed to the 2023 Vikings in significant ways..

While the money mentioned above is guaranteed, UDFA roster spots are not. But without a doubt, the Minnesota Vikings have a lot of faith in at least a few guys, just given how much they paid them. From there, we’ll have to see how things play out over these next few months.
