Just finished up all 15 games/520 snaps of Ravens NT Michael Pierce’s 2019 campaign. He’s been one of my favorite guys to study since 2017. Great natural leverage with excellent play strength, power, & good hand usage.— Brandon Thorn (@BrandonThornNFL) March 7, 2020
Here’s a short preview of some of his top plays. pic.twitter.com/2dvocGPAb2
I ran across this video on Twitter just now and it needed to be seen by more people. Now, the full 7+ minute video is up on YouTube. Here it is:
Brandon Thorn is a well-known NFL 22-wide analyst guy. He watches a lot of tape for a living. So, I love that he loves our new defensive tackle, Michael Pierce, who will now play nose tackle for the Vikings, in place of Linval Joseph.
The Ravens played a 3-4 defense and now this pickup and newly hired 3-4 gaaawwwd, Dom Capers… have fans nervous about seeing a full-time 3-4 scheme next season. That’s not happening. If you trust guys like Brandon (and you should trust guys like Brandon) then you believe Pierce will adjust to a 4-3 scheme just fine.
I did just read in the Star Tribune, that Pierce has had weight discipline issues in the past… but fuck… who cares. This highlight video that Thorn made… has my tent pitched straight to midnight.
Pierce is only 27 and has impressive stats for a young DT with weight discipline issues.
And he’s excited to meet us…. but everyone just wants to get out of the house at this point.
