Twins LOSE Game 1 of 3 @ Yankees:
The Twins lost on Monday night by a score of 2-1
What a frustrating game. Jaime Garcia made it through just 5.2 innings vs Twins but struck out 9 guys. His slider was pretty filthy but the Twins’ hitters were swinging at EVERYTHING, which they haven’t done all year. They had Santana on the mound against a guy they gave up for next-to-nothing at the trade-deadline. Santana was really good. The bats weren’t. You need to win these pitching matchups when you are in a playoff race.
Pitching can be a luxury at times for the Twins so it was frustrating to see the bats fall behind. The Twins were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and they only needed to be 1-6.
The Angels didn’t play on Monday so the Twins will lose a half-game to them.
Tuesday will be Jose Berrios (12-7, 3.84 ERA) vs CC Sabathia (11-5, 3.85 ERA) in game-2.
CC Sabathia knows what it’s like to be in a playoff race, like the Twins and Yankees are in right now. Jose Berrios doesn’t. Yet, the Twins NEED Berrios much more than the Yankees need Sabathia. Can Berrios deliver? I sure f**king hope so…

How Long is Bradford Out and is the Media Turning on Mike Zimmer?:
So, what is the question on EVERYONE’s mind today? And do we know anything further? Not really…
We had some minor news on the whole Sam Bradford knee thing today, but it wasn’t much.
#Vikings QB Sam Bradford is believed to have a bone bruise, source said. They’ll see how his knee responds to an injection and go from there

Depending on how rehab on the cartilage issue in his knee goes, the #Vikings believe Sam Bradford returns next week: pic.twitter.com/FuEeMEffD5

I have a couple of thoughts on this situation. First, it sounds like we will be talking about this all week. I doubt Bradford is a full participant in practice at all. Now, it doesn’t seem like this injury is directly related to his ACL surgeries of the past, which is good news. We will just have to watch closely. The Vikings don’t stand much of a chance vs. Tampa Bay without him.
2nd, the media might be turning on Mike Zimmer… Yesterday he gave his, soon-to-be-famous quote….READ MORE
Remember when the media fell all over Mike Zimmer? Is that changing? #Vikings #SKOL https://t.co/yhXR3A9uXc

Tyrese Haliburton Makes College Decision:
Well, the Gophers made a nice late push at Tyrese Haliburton, a 3-start basketball recruit from Oshkosh, WI. But, it was to no avail…
Hilton Magic, y’all ready? #cyclONEnation?? pic.twitter.com/c9z8zFaLaZ

The Gophers only have 1 scholarship left for 2018, after signing 3 studs already (all from MN – Dan Oturu, Gabe Kalscheur, and Jarvis Thomas). They are currently courting two top combo guards HARD, in both Eric Hunter and Anthony Nelson.
However, neither guy is projected to land with the Gophers. Hunter is projected to go to Purdue while Nelson is expected to go to Dayton. If Pitino can snag another top 150 overall guy, this will be one of the best recruiting classes in school history.
Andrew Wiggins to Get $148M Extension by Saturday:
We have all been waiting patiently for Andrew Wiggins to sign his new contract extension, planting his flag in the frozen Minnesota dirt for another 5 years.
The Wiggins 5-years, $148M extension is expected to be done before Saturday’s 1st practice, per a chat I had w/ owner Glen Taylor. #Twolves

This is GREAT for the Wolves’ organization and just the beginning of this new era. Karl Anthony-Towns is due the same extension next summer. He will then be locked in, as well..
I also expect Jimmy Butler to sign an extension next summer for these reasons:
- He can get more money in Minnesota with a new deal compared to other cities
- Gets another guaranteed year on the deal
- Play for championships over the next 5-6 years
- Thibs is here – We all know how much Jimmy loves Thibs.
This BIG 3 is here to stay. Buckle up Wolves’ fans… We are going to party like it is 2004.
Mikko Koivu Gets 2-year/$11 Million Extension:
The Captain looks like he will Finnish his career in Minnesota… see what I did there…

I leave our hockey stuff up to our Hockey-Guy: Zak. How does Zak feel about this extension? Well he will release an article about it tomorrow. Until then…. we have Twitter…
Are you approaching the wrong end of 30? Well here is 11 million for two years to help you transition into retirement.

This signing will lead to the firing of CF at the end of the season. Zero direction. His numbers were inflated last year w/ Zuck & Gran. pic.twitter.com/C4UNn9KwzD

How many players peak at 35 & 36 in the NHL? Mikko maxed out at 71 points in ’09
