There’s nothing more intimidating about an opponent when you play on the road, than a home crowd that suffocates you. The Vikings have the SKOL Chant (thanks Iceland) and a really luxurious/beautiful echo chamber that reaches deafening levels. The animals of the barnyard will get wild any day of the week. And the 18,000 strong at Xcel energy center are the main reason why Minnesota is the state of hockey. (I think the Timberwolves still play around here somewhere…)

And now, to add to Minnesota’s home field advantage collection…. The Loon’s Wonderwall. The first two seasons of the franchise, the the Minnesota United FC played their home matches at TCF bank stadium, home of the Gopher Football Team. While I’m sure they are very grateful to the University of Minnesota for their loner field, 2019 was time to move into their new crib (Allianz Field).

Six games into Allianz field’s history, and we currently have THE greatest home field advantage in all of sports. Zlatan came to town and quickly regretted it, Wayne Rooney didn’t want none, and most recently, one of the top clubs in the west (Houston Dynamo) left Minnesota with a big fat L. Without one damn loss on their record when they play in front of “the Wonderwall”, I dare you to argue with perfection.

I know it can be hard to believe in such a “soft” sport, but the Loons’ fans have showed up to get fucking rowdy for their home team. And in HUGE numbers, all of which can definitely chug a beer better than Erin Rodgers. Our St. Paul residence has become hell on earth for opponents, as they whisper amongest themselves “don’t go to Minnesota, those freaks will eat you alive”.

Trade our captain or send off another promising ball striker… it doesn’t matter. We keep on winning. Thanks to the home field advantage and the faithful of the “Wonderwall”.

SING IT BABY!
