Vikings fire head athletic trainer Uriah Myrie

Instead, insiders are being told that the change is about a major reshuffling that has begun across the entire training staff.

Normally, dismissing your head athletic trainer wouldn’t be the biggest news of any day (and it still probably isn’t). But Myrie was brought less than two years ago, as part of sweeping changes throughout the organization, including the training room.

16-year Minnesota Vikings head athletic trainer, Eric Sugarman, was fired in March 2022, amidst reports that he was pressuring players into returning faster than their bodies were ready and that he was way too determined to serve the agenda of previous head coach Mike Zimmer, who was fired months earlier than Sugarman eventually went.

Uriah Myrie had his own issues, in the short time that he was Minnesota Vikings head athletic trainer. He was fined by the Minnesota medical licensing board because he started working for the Vikings before his paperwork with the state was in order.
