The franchise began play during the 2000-01 season and have been in search of a Stanley Cup since.

This season the franchise has already unveiled some big plans. Not only did they rename The X to Grand Casino Arena, but they have announced special Anniversary Games for the schedule as well.

General manager Bill Guerin made tweaks to the roster this offseason, and is still looking to land the big fish in the form of a Kirill Kaprizov contract extension. Everyone on the ice will also be donning some new threads as well.

New sweater unveiling for Minnesota Wild

During training camp the Minnesota Wild announced a new corporate sponsor for their buckets. Blaze Credit Union is set to appear on home helmets this season. A new uniform is also coming, and the franchise teased it Wednesday ahead of the Thursday reveal.

It makes sense for the Wild to unveil the uniforms on September 25th as the 25 coincides with the season in franchise history. It also gives some breathing room to the Minnesota Timberwolves uniforms that were revealed on Wednesday.

For the vast majority of their existence the MN Wild have gone with a red, green, and white color palette for their sweaters. In recent seasons they brought about a green and yellow retro look that throws things back to the North Stars days.

The teaser for the new uniform involves a moon, which could allude to any number of different options. No matter what, it will give fans a new line of merchandise to purchase. Hopefully it’s a style Kaprizov is wearing for quite some time, and one that new acquisition Vladimir Tarasenko finds a career revitalization in.

The official reveal came Thursday morning and Minnesota opted to bring back the original look. The new jerseys will be worn four times during the season, with the first date being October 28 against Winnipeg.

Minnesota’s press release noted the jerseys are “Paying homage to the team’s inaugural season, the special 25th anniversary jersey features the iconic Wild logo, original Wild script and font, and gold accents on the white sweater.”

The other three games for the sweaters to appear include November 4 vs. Nashville, December 21 vs. Colorado, and January 24 vs. Florida. Each game has a commemorative ticket pack and bobblehead as well.

MN Timberwolves Unveil KG Era Throwback Uniforms… Trees and All https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-timberwolves/2025-26-throwback-uniforms-black-trees-alternate/ Wed, 24 Sep 2025 16:18:59 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=68819 The Minnesota Timberwolves will start their 2025 training camp next week at Mayo Clinic Square, in Minneapolis. It’s a big year for Anthony Edwards & Co.

In a perfect world, the Wolves would have unveiled the best backcourt in basketball this offseason. Instead, after they failed to lure Kevin Durant to Minnesota, Tim Connelly chose to run it back with a big man laden roster featuring Julius Randle, Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid playing Robin to Ant’s Batman.

Minnesota Timberwolves unveil KG era throwbacks

On Wednesday, though, the Minnesota Timberwolves unveiled something that might be even better than an Ant + KD backcourt. In 2025, as previously teased and officially announced this morning, the Wolves are bringing the trees back again, in the form of our favorite black Kevin Garnett era uniforms originally worn from 1997 to 2008.

This is one of the first visible moves from the Timberwolves’ new majority ownership group — headed by Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez — and they could not have tipped off the new era any better, unless it was announcing a new arena.

New uniforms come with throwback court too

The black alternate uniforms from the late 90s are, without a doubt, one of the top two or three uniform combinations in the franchise’s 36 year history. The only other comparable uniforms were the original “old Shep” whites with blue numbers, letters and light green accents.

While the race might be close, many would say the ones they are re-debuting in 2025-26 are as good as it gets, especially when you throw in the 2003-04 memories, in which KG, Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell lead the Wolves to their first-ever Western Conference Finals appearance.

But wait, it gets better. Target Center will also receive a throwback makeover on nights when the Minnesota Timberwolves wear their throwback uniforms, featuring what looks like the exact same court from those late 90 – early 2000 teams.

If these throwbacks look more recently familiar, it’s because they did these same throwback uniforms one other time in the last decade, back during the 2018-19 season. You may remember Derrick Rose wearing going off for 50 points wearing the No. 25, in black and trees.

MN Wild Break Out New Uniform Changes https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-wild/blaze-credit-union-new-corporate-helmet-sponsor/ Tue, 09 Sep 2025 16:44:02 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=68182 This season is one of change for the Minnesota Wild. No longer will the arena they play in be called the Xcel Energy Center. That’s not the only sponsorship change being introduced.

Although the hockey home will likely remain referred to as ‘The X,’ it’s now Grand Casino Arena. The lids atop the domes of players heads also have a new sponsor. Quite a lot is taking place on the corporate front in the lead up to the franchise’s 25th season in existence.

Blaze heating up the ice for MN Wild

There’s a bit of comedy in a company called Blaze pairing up with an ice hockey team. That’s what is taking place though, as Blaze Credit Union is the new helmet sponsor for the Minnesota Wild.

The Minnesota Wild and Blaze Credit Union today announced a multi-year partnership as the team’s new home helmet partner. The Blaze Credit Union logo will appear exclusively on the Wild’s home helmets starting this season. Blaze Credit Union is the Official Credit Union of the Minnesota Wild.

“We have enjoyed building our relationship with Blaze Credit Union through our existing partnership, and we are extremely thankful for their additional commitment to be our new home helmet partner,” said Bryan Bellows, Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships.

“Blaze Credit Union is excited to expand our long-term partnership with the Minnesota Wild,” said Dan Stoltz, Blaze Credit Union CEO. “There is incredible alignment with hockey fans throughout Minnesota. Together Blaze and the Minnesota Wild proudly serve this great state of hockey.”

Wild.com

Blaze Credit Union is the third-largest credit union in the state of Minnesota, and is headquartered just outside of St. Paul in Falcon Heights. Blaze was formed in 2024 through a merger between Spire and Hiway credit unions.

Minnesota still needs to get a deal done with superstar Kirill Kaprizov. They are awaiting his return stateside, and then hope to hammer out the particulars. Bill Guerin already inked Marco Rossi to a new deal, and he has done virtually all of the heavy lifting for the offseason.

Some moves have trickled in on the fringes, but John Hynes needs some of his youth to step up into more prominent production roles.

The regular season gets underway on October 9 against the Blues in St. Louis.

Ranking the Minnesota Vikings 2024 Uniform Options https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-vikings/minnesota-vikings-news/minnesota-vikings-news-ranking-uniforms-2024/ Tue, 03 Sep 2024 16:41:03 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=52022 The Minnesota Vikings 2024 season is upon us. The team has a new quarterback, in Sam Darnold, and a number of other changes, especially on defense. But the Vikings are unveiling more than just new personnel this season. They have new uniforms, too.

Their new Winter Warrior threads offer more white than we have ever seen on a Vikings uniform, including a white helmet. We won’t see them debut until week 15, in the middle of December, vs the Chicago Bears. All together, the Minnesota Vikings will have four different jersey options this season, how do they rank?

6. Road White + White Pants

Having been the road jersey for the Minnesota Vikings since the 2013 season, these uniforms are pretty standard at this point. A white jersey is certainly clean, but there’s just nothing exciting here. That’s not a bad thing, given the conservative nature of the uniform, but it’s not going to turn heads either.

The purple helmet does pair nicely with this offering, and going to a matte look was a good decision. This will be the first uniform the Vikings rock during the 2024 season.

Typically white pants are paired best with a whiteout look. That will be true for the Winter Warrior uniforms in 2024. White on white is a very popular, and clean, look for the Vikings. They definitely show all of the wear that takes place on the field during a game, but no one ever scoffed at some grass stains on a football jersey. The subtle striping used by Minnesota is a great accent to the white pants.

5. Road White + Purple Pants

If wearing the road white jersey, the color splash of purple on the bottom pairs well with the purple lid. The Vikings broke out a matte version of their helmet and it pairs well with the swatch used for the uniform. This could be a combination seen most routinely for the Vikings when wearing the road uniform this year in an effort to further differentiate from the Winter Warrior scheme.

4. Home Purple + Purple Pants

The purple pants are almost always matched with a white top. That wasn’t the case when Minnesota wore their color rush uniform a couple of years ago. I’m a fan of purple over white, but give the priority to the uniform top being the dominant color. The Vikings haven’t consistently done a complete purple look, but now have a few more options to cycle through in 2024.

3. Home Purple + White Pants

Another staple, it’s hard to get away with doing too much or suggesting anything groundbreaking. The purple matches the matte helmet well. It has become synonymous with the franchise throughout the league.

Something a bit more flashy could be fun. We have seen so many teams fail on that front, so it’s fine that the Vikings continue to play it safe. A bit more yellow on this offering, or a slight amount of black, could set it off.

2. Purple Throwbacks + White Pants

With a predominantly purple colorway, the Vikings could open their home slate by wearing this jersey. This jersey made it’s debut last season. The Bud Grant patch on the chest is a very nice touch, and finding a way to modernize a jersey that is 50 years old was executed upon perfectly.

Although a Super Bowl has continued to elude the franchise, these classic uniforms bring back memories from some of the Vikings best seasons. As an alternate uniform, sprinkling these in more than a couple of times this year would be welcomed.

1. Winter Warrior

Unlike the Twins City Connect uniforms, the Minnesota Vikings unveiled a fresh option that was almost universally praised. While the road white uniforms bring up the rear here, adding silver and a white helmet elevate these to an entirely new level.

Related: Minnesota Twins Unveil Blue and Yellow City Connect Uniforms

It’s unfortunate they will only be worn once this season, but there is no question that fans will flock to their nearest retailer to get their hands on them. A clean look with a sleek design, it’s hard not to suggest that the Vikings didn’t just drop one of the best jerseys in the league.

Another Minnesota Timberwolves Logo Change and Rebrand Incoming? https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-timberwolves/minnesota-timberwolves-rumors/minnesota-timberwolves-rumors-old-shep-logo-rebrand/ Sun, 14 Jul 2024 13:24:14 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=52907 Seven years. The Minnesota Timberwolves have been wearing their current uniforms, and using the four-point North Star + howling wolf logo that everyone loves so much (sarcasm) since 2017.

Disaster feels like too strong of a word, but the Wolves’ latest rebrand was certainly a failure. That’s why we saw them wearing alternate uniforms, during the 2024 NBA Playoffs, more than they did the standard fits. And now… it appears another “rebrand” is coming.

Minnesota Timberwolves rebranding turning back the clock…?

Today, Minnesota will play in the 2nd NBA Summer League game on their Vegas schedule. The uniforms most teams wear during summer league look like premium upgrades from the reversible (home/away) mesh jerseys you and I wore in 6th grade.

But, if you (especially old schoolers) peep what the Wolves’ coaches are wearing in Sin City this summer… you may notice something different, yet oddly familiar. That’s right. Generic howlin’ T-Wolf is gone. Replaced by… the one and only, Old Shep.

Old Shep was the Minnesota Timberwolves’ original logo, when the team was first established before the 1989-90 NBA season. They rolled with the above logo, a royal blue, white and hit of light green color scheme through the 1996-97 season. Kevin Garnett made his debut in these beautiful threads.

In 2023-24, we saw the Wolves debut white throwbacks from the Old Shep era, and the entire fanbase fell in love all over again, which only led to more rumblings of a possible change coming sooner, rather than later.

Looks like the Wolves’ throwback rebrand is happening

And it doesn’t sound like these polos happened because of an intern who was feeling nostalgic. When asked on Twitter if the Timberwolves are teasing a throwback rebrand, The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski tried to go full Stefon Diggs cryptic. Instead, he pretty much gave away the secret with a chin rubbing emoji reply.

There’s no way Jon would have replied like this, if the Timberwolves were not rebranding. He’s a ‘tow the company line’ kind of guy, and would not fuel rumors like this, if untrue. And yes, Krawczynski would absolutely know one way, or the other.

Related: What in the GTA is Tattooed on Terrence Shannon Jr’s Forearm?

This is exciting! Hit up ebay now and get all the (real) vintage Old Shep gear you can find because those prices are about to go through the roof. I’m guessing the whites will be very similar to what we saw with last year’s alternates. But I cannot wait to see the remastered edition of these royal blues.

And if the Minnesota Timberwolves creativity department is really smart, they will make the black “Timberwolves” uniforms (with growling timberwolf and trees) as their main alternates, full with alternate court.

Minnesota Wild Rebranding to North Stars Colors? Not So Fast… https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-wild/minnesota-wild-rumors/minnesota-wild-rebrand-rumors-north-stars/ Wed, 12 Jun 2024 16:41:33 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=51985 The Minnesota Wild’s season has been long over, even though the Stanley Cup Finals are just heating up. After a disappointing 2023-24 season, that included their first playoff absence in nearly five years, and another year of cap hell on the horizon, fans would love something to get excited about.

Report surfaces that Minnesota Wild are rebranding to North Star colors

Like a rebrand that includes a permanent switch to North Stars colors? That’s what one popular NHL uniform watch/insider website (Icethletics.com) claimed on Wednesday morning, in a video they posted to their YouTube channel (26K subscribers) that claims the permanent switch to the green and yellow color scheme was coming, not next season, but for the 2025-26 NHL season.

“Quick update on Minnesota: I hope Wild fans really like the North Stars throwbacks they got during the reverse retro years. I’ve been told this look is the future of the franchise, but not next season. The Wild are apparently targeting 2025, their 25th anniversary season, to launch a rebrand of their own, a permanent switch to bright green and yellow as their primary colors.

This is a big change, that I’m told has been in the works for a couple of years now, and will be ready to roll out next summer. I can’t say for sure yet if those reverse retros will be the exact jersey designs, but it would make sense. Minnesota began easing into this transition by adopting the green throwback as their third jersey last season and they will keep it for next season as well.”

A switch back to the North Stars color scheme would be very big news that, I’m guessings, would be widely lauded by most fans and media members around town, especially knowing how much people like the Wild’s current alternate uniform, and the reverse retros that they wore a few years ago.

Minnesota Wild *mostly* shut down rebrand rumors

After the above news started spreading across hockey internet, some Minnesota Wild reporters, including Michael Russo (The Athletic), did some quick digging, to see if they could substantiate it this supposed rebrand. Unfortunately, they could not.

It appears we cannot get excited about a North Stars rebrand… yet. I say this without knowing anything behind the scenes, but the responses that Russo and Jessi Pierce got from those inside of Minnesota Wild headquarters are weird.

WTF does “not based in fact” mean? It’s either true or not true? Same with what Pierce was told. “No one in the office knows about it”. Ok… so does that mean others might know about it? It’s interesting that neither reporter was able to get a for sure false ruling. It seems like a pretty “true” or “false” situation to me…

Maybe a rebrand isn’t coming but I have one eye open and paying very close attention because this kind of sounds like a situation where the cat may have been let out of the bag unexpectedly, and whoever let it escape isn’t willing to admit it happened yet.

Ranking the Minnesota Twins 2024 Uniforms https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-twins/ranking-minnesota-twins-uniforms/ Tue, 11 Jun 2024 15:46:34 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=51915 With the Minnesota Twins City Connect uniforms dropping on Monday morning, the franchise now has five different offerings to rotate through this season. The wear dates for the City Connect uniforms are set in stone. They’ll tout them for the first time on Friday but when they wear their other uniforms often rotates.

How well the City Connect uniforms hold up over the next couple of seasons remains to be seen, but the Twins are hoping they age like fine wine because the initial reviews were not kind. Coming out of a recent rebrand, though, the Twins have a solid stable of offerings.

Of course players have preferences, and while not all jive with the fans, but the Twins’ five rotating uniforms seem to play pretty well, even if they aren’t the “all-time” favorite of older fans, who miss pinstripes or differently shaped ‘Ms’.

Ranking 2024 Minnesota Twins uniforms from worst to best

But today, we are going to rank the current roster of Minnesota Twins’ uniforms from worst to best. Feel free to let me know how terrible my choices are in any of our social media comment sections and choose your favorite Twins uniform in the poll underneath my rankings.

5. Alternate Twins Uniform

MLB: Colorado Rockies at Minnesota Twins
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

A navy top with the Minnesota wordmark across the chest, there is just nothing that stands out about this configuration. The navy is a traditional Minnesota Twins color, and the uniform isn’t going to ruffle any feathers.

But it certainly doesn’t do anything to move the needle, either. It just kind of exists as the team’s main home uniform. Having the newly designed “M” logo also gets it a slight downgrade, because the old TC logo was better.

4. City Connect (2024)

Minnesota Twins City Connect uniforms

Unveiled in June 2024, the City Connect uniform is dubbed “The Ripple Effect.” If nothing else, it is certain to send waves through Twins Territory. There are slight hues of a traditional navy here, but the royal blue dominates the scheme and the bright yellow seems incredibly forced.

The secondary logo’s on both the cap and sleeve are nice touches, but the 10,000 Lakes patch being so large on the side of the cap is a bit gaudy. These uniforms are supposed to be different and unique, but it’s going to take time before the fan base comes around.

3. Home Twins Uniform

MLB: Kansas City Royals at Minnesota Twins
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

A crisp white style, the Twins wordmark really pops in the bright red across the chest. These are very traditional uniforms, but the pants piping and “TC” logo on the cap are subtle additions that do a lot.

Related: Minnesota Twins City Connect Uniforms Causing Quite the ‘Ripple Effect’ in Reactions

Of course these are full of grass and dirt stains when in action, but as the bright white emerges from the dugout, it screams the Twins are ready to play. No doubt, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if many of you rank this one higher than I did.

2. Road Twins Uniform

MLB: Minnesota Twins at Pittsburgh Pirates
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

A gray offering with pinstripes is something that should largely be synonymous with the Minnesota Twins. While it is the New York Yankees that are known as “The Pinstripes,” the Twins have long had pinstriped uniforms as well.

The gray background is great, and a Minnesota wordmark across the chest in navy looks really sharp. The cap being the new “M” logo isn’t ideal, but not enough to knock these down.

1. Alternate Home Uniform

MLB: Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins
Matt Blewett-USA TODAY Sports

The cream “Twin Cities” uniform has been the gold standard since it was unveiled prior to the 2023 Major League Baseball season. Putting “Twin Cities” as the wordmark on the chest differentiates from other offerings, and bringing back a long-celebrated cream palette is well done.

Paired with the “TC” cap with letters stitched in cream, it’s a clean alternate that isn’t too busy and remains among the favorites in the clubhouse as well. It’s different, but not too different. They really are the perfect alternates.

Minnesota Twins City Connect Uniforms Causing Quite the ‘Ripple Effect’ in Reactions https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-twins/minnesota-twins-uniform-reactions-city-connect/ Mon, 10 Jun 2024 17:53:21 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=51917 When the Minnesota Twins began to tease their City Connect uniforms last week there was anticipation building for the unveiling, which happened today. As fans got their first glimpses at threads that are certainly different from traditional uniforms, it’s hard not to see the reactions coming in all over the board.

Designed with a focus on lake life and the state’s 10,000 bodies of water, the Minnesota Twins really leaned into multiple design elements with their City Connect jersey. Nike helped to create something that heavily deviates from navy, red, and white that often adorns the bodies of Rocco Baldelli’s players, and a large dash of yellow was thrown in for the first time.

Minnesota Twins City Connect Cause a Ripple Effect

The tag line for the Minnesota Twins City Connect uniform is “The Ripple Effect.” When the jerseys dropped on social media, ripples could be seen throughout the mentions on any post highlighting the jerseys themselves. A yellow brimmed cap, with no red anywhere in sight, these were sure to be a polarizing offering.

Related: Minnesota Twins Unveil Blue and Yellow City Connect Uniforms

Although the club suggested that yellow was a color bringing thoughts of lake setting suns, it seems as though the choice was a bit forced and fans are taking notice. A bit more of a fade could have been incorporated, as they did on the sleeve patch with the pink.

Maybe a hint of orange would have drove the point home better as well. Let’s save our conversation on the pants until next time (see below) because it’s possible they weren’t featured as much in the reveal for a reason. All blue pants is certainly a choice.

City Connect’s On Field May Change Minnesota Twins Fans Minds

Of course Monday was just the initial unveiling of the Twins new City Connect uniform. Playing the Colorado Rockies as they head back to Target Field, the new jerseys won’t yet be worn.

That debut is reserved for Friday night’s contest against the Oakland Athletics. Wearing “The Ripple Effect” uniforms for the first time, fans will have the opportunity to see how they look on the field.

Postgame the Twins are throwing a free concert with Flo Rida taking the stage. They would be well-served to get him some of the new merchandise and see if his pumping beats can help to influence fans’ thinking as well.

The uniform has a sheen feel as opposed to the traditional mesh material for a uniform. How it wears, and what fans think when getting their hands on the product could be part of the process as well.

Related: Vikings Whiteout Uniforms Include Historic New Helmets; Twins Dropping New Alternates Too

With City Connect uniforms intending to be different, the Twins have definitely accomplished that with theirs. The secondary logos show very nicely, and the way they could be incorporated into future merchandise and branding remains to be seen.

With five uniforms now able to be rotated throughout their contests, Minnesota catches up to the rest of the league. Here is some more reaction from the new fits.

Minnesota Twins Unveil Blue and Yellow City Connect Uniforms https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-twins/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins-city-connect-uniforms-2024/ Mon, 10 Jun 2024 14:07:36 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=51906 The Minnesota Twins have revealed their new City Connect uniforms, a series of alternates being rolled out around Major League Baseball. These are the first Twins’ City Connect uniforms. Some teams already have two.

It’s important to remember that these alternate sets are meant to pay homage to the cities and states that each team resides in, which has led to a lot of the City Connect alternates looking A LOT different than normal team color schemes. The Twins certainly fall into that category, with these. So brace yourself.

The City Connect decision makers at Target Field had a couple of points that they wanted to make with these uniforms. First, they wanted to make this more of a State Connect uniform than they did a City Connect.

Related: Reduced Minnesota Twins Payroll May Be Here to Stay

Instead of another version of the Twins’ “M” logo, they made it “MN”. Not only that, but much like the new Minnesota Timberwolves alternates last season, the blues are supposed to represent water, an ode to the Land of 10,000 Lakes, which displays prominently on the new hats. The yellow an very faint pinks represent the hues of color during a sunset on one of those many Minnesota lakes.

There are a lot of things I like about these new alternate uniforms, especially the reveal video where Slug (Atmosphere) is rapping behind it. The colors are difficult to digest. Not because they don’t look good together, it’s just such a drastic change that my brain is having troubles not seeing the old Milwaukee Brewers.

For all of the City Connect uniforms out there, the Minnesota Twins could have done a lot worse than these. We’ll see how they look when the Twins wear them for the first time on Friday night vs the Oakland Athletics.

Minnesota Gophers football unveils classic new uniforms

Designed by Nike, these fresh new unis feature a clean and simple look that incorporates some stripes and multiple different color options. This morning, a video posted on the football team’s social medias revealed the jerseys, pants and helmet combinations (photos below).

The updated look includes a couple simple, yet stylish, stripes on the outside shoulders and numbers on top. The pants have a full two-toned stripe running down the outside of each pant leg.

These new Minnesota Gophers uniforms strike a great balance between classic and modern, offering a definite upgrade without going overboard. They look fresh and clean.

So far, the fans seem to be on board with the changes, though some are curious whether the chrome helmet is now off the table, given it is not included in any of the provided color combinations.
