That’s a good thing, no matter how you like to watch games. Streaming problems of years past are out the window. It doesn’t matter which streaming or cable provider you have or what part of the midwest you live in.

If you want to watch the MN Twins game today vs the St. Louis Cardinals or anytime during the next six months, fans in the local “Twins Territory” viewing area can dial up Twins.TV in their web browser or open the MLB app, where they can subscribe to Twins TV there. The cost is $19.99 per month, with a discounted full-season option also available.

Unfortunately, the rollout of Twins TV — which is being handled by the MLB — has not been smooth. As of Opening Day morning, the most popular providers, including DirecTV, Comcast/Xfinity and Charter had yet to announce a deal with Twins TV.

The Minnesota Twins have remained confident that contracts would be reached with all the major carriers mentioned above, but fans across Twins Territory still woke up nervous this morning. Then, around 8 AM, the Twins announced agreements with most of the major cable and satellite providers across the midwest.

If you’re a cord cutter, who has moved to an all-around streaming provider (like YouTube TV or Sling TV), you’re out of luck. Twins TV is not offered on most all-inclusive streaming platforms yet, unless your streaming provider is one of Fubo or DirecTV Stream. Those two stream-only channel providers now have Twins TV available.

Channel numbers may be fluid, too. For example, Twins TV is supposedly (per the list below) on the same DirecTV channel as what Bally Sports North has been on historically. Bally doesn’t hold rights to the Twins anymore but they do still broadcast Wolves and Wild games. So something will have to give on that…

What is the difference between Twins.TV and MLB.TV

The first Minnesota Twins game of the season will air at 3:15 PM CDT on Thursday, so make sure that Twins TV is included in your channel package, if you have one of the cable/satellite providers above, before then. Otherwise, download the MLB app on your smart TV, tablet or smartphone and purchase Twins TV there.

This information is for local fans only. Those Twins fans who live outside of the local viewing network (Minnesota, Iowa, ND, SD, Wisconsin) will watch games the same way they had previously. The same out of market packages are available at MLB.TV and in the MLB app for out-of-market subscribers.

Twins TV and out of market MLB.TV will be marked differently for in-market fans, so be sure to purchase the correct package.

New Twins Channel Debut Revealed Along with Broadcast Enhancements https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-twins/minnesota-twins-news/mlb-tv-streaming-package-live-broadcast-enhancements/ Tue, 11 Feb 2025 02:37:09 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=60215 For the past year the Minnesota Twins have made it incredibly difficult for their fans to watch games. Sure, it was becoming easier and cheaper to buy tickets at Target Field. But if you were looking to watch the game via stream or on television, good luck.

Bally Sports, renamed to FanDuel Sports Network, is no longer a Twins’ problem. Twins.TV ushers in a new era of viewing experience for MN Twins fans. Details of the new service have trickled out sparsely since being announced a few months ago. On February 11, though, the opportunity for local market fans to purchase Twins.TV goes live.

Minnesota Twins streaming package is available for purchase

On February 13, Minnesota Twins pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training. Then on the 22nd, the team kicks off their Spring Training schedule against the Atlanta Braves. Starting tomorrow morning, however, fans can sign up early and receive half-off tickets, reports The Athletic’s Dan Hayes.

“The team is offering blackout-free baseball on Twins.TV to viewers throughout the five states comprising Twins Territory — Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and western Wisconsin — at $99.99 for the season or $19.99 per month, with discounts offered to season-ticket holders. Subscribers who purchase a direct-to-consumer package before April 1 also will receive an offer for 50 percent off tickets for April and May home games.”

The pricing structure was unveiled earlier this offseason. This Twins.TV package is an in-market option for fans throughout Twins Territory, and operates separately from the nationwide MLB.tv bundle. Eligibility requirements can be found through a FAQ produced by the Twins.

If you are a cable subscriber, a channel will be available to carry Minnesota Twins action. The organization kept the entirety of the broadcast team intact. That allows for bookending game content. The channel details there are not yet certain.

Unfortunately, with no true studio outside of Target Field, road games will no longer have pregame shows. That could lead to significant information dumps by either the analysts or on-field reporter Audra Martin, prior to first pitch. Road postgame shows are also now just 15 minutes.

As an additional expansion of coverage, it sounds as though something like 15-20 games this season can be expected to show on local channels as well.

Broadcast enhancements coming for MN Twins

In a recent appearance over Twins Fest weekend, analyst Cory Provus talked of new broadcast enhancements coming to the production of games. He mentioned two specific camera angles that now have a bit more definition. Both wide-angle and intimate play-specific cameras will be introduced.

“It’s really going to bring fans literally closer to the game,” Twins.TV executive producer. With a (remote) camera, you’re going to be field level at certain parts of the game. And with the wire cam, we’re going to be able to show you more than you’ve been able to see before… We do hope that even though it’s technology, it is technology that can really connect the teams and the players with the fans.”

“There’s funky angles, every stadium’s different and it’s really hard to capture certain parts of the game,” Fleck said. “This camera gives a wide perspective of a large portion of the field. … You can see much more of what’s going on.”

Trevor Fleck, Twins.TV executive producer (The Athletic)

It sounds as though the additional camera angles will provide fans with a viewing experience unlike anything we have come to know with traditional cable television. Apple TV has been the gold standard when considering in-game production value to this point, and Twins.TV will now attempt to rival that.

Of course the baseball is truly the selling point in and of itself. For diehard fans, the ability to consume 162 games this season is something that escaped many last year. The Minnesota Twins will be hoping the preseason projection systems are accurate and that they can play relevant baseball throughout the summer.

Rocco Baldelli has the vast majority of his roster back from a season ago. If they can stay healthy, the MN Twins should be among the better teams in the American league. The first Twins.TV game of the spring will be held on Mach 16th against the Boston Red Sox.

Cost to Stream Twins Games in Post-Blackout Era Revealed https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-twins/minnesota-twins-news/cost-to-stream-twins-games-on-mlb-tv-twins-tv/ Fri, 24 Jan 2025 23:15:33 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=59618 The Minnesota Twins are going to be playing real baseball games again in just two months. In fact, pitchers and catchers will start reporting for spring training in less than three weeks, on February 13. Position players will trickle in around that same time, as they are mandated to report at Twins facilities in Fort Myers by February 17.

And for the first time ever during the streaming era, which for the MLB goes all the way back to 2002, fans from anywhere in the country will be able to subscribe to stream Minnesota Twins games without fear of blackout restrictions ruining a one-time staple of their summer.

After the Twins decided to ditch local RSN coverage in 2025, it no longer matters where you live or which cable/satellite/streaming service you are loyal to. When the first pitch of 2025 is thrown from Busch Stadium (scheduled for 1:15 PM on March 27) against the St. Louis Cardinals, anyone – anywhere – will be able to subscribe and watch.

Cost for ANY Minnesota Twins fan to subscribe to Twins.TV

And yes, I know it may be difficult to believe for many, but that includes those fans who live within something that was once known as the Minnesota Twins’ “local broadcast area”. As long as you have an internet connection and a subscription to Twins.TV on MLB.TV — which is operated by Major League Baseball — you are in.

Subscriptions to Twins.TV will include access to the MLB.TV app, which can be downloaded on any smartphone and most smart TVs. On Friday, at the annual Twinsfest celebration at Target Field, the Twins announced how much a subscription Twins.TV in 2025 will cost: $19.99 monthly or a discounted $99.99 if you pay for the season in full (about a $25 discount if you include a handful of spring training broadcasts).

This is the first time the Minnesota Twins have been available on a stand-alone viewing package not privy to RSN blackout rules since the early 80s, before Spectrum Sports (1983-1986) then TwinsVision (1987-1988) then MSC (1989-2001) then FSN (2002-2020) then BSN (2021-2024) started broadcasting games during the last 40+ years.

What about the cable, satellite and all-inclusive streaming customers?

But what about those who have remained loyal to cable and satellite providers during the cord cutting era, or those who use all-inclusive streaming services like Fubo TV — which is the only such stream-only service to offer Twins games over the past couple of seasons? What will happen to those fans?

According to former Minnesota Twins president Dave St. Peter, there will be options available on those platforms by the time the season rolls around. More than likely, that’ll mean an additional ‘Twins TV’ channel on most popular cable, satellite and all-inclusive streaming services, but exactly what that channell will entail and how much it will cost has yet to be determined.

Of course, this is the same guy who assured us that blackouts were going to end before the 2024 season, only to have to eat his words later. But this time around, his words will likely end up on the correct side of right because this situation is not new. Even the Twins website is pretty much guaranteeing coverage to those customers.

Can I still watch Twins games through my Satellite or Cable Provider?

Yes. Twins.TV will be available on similar satellite and cable providers in which Twins Baseball has been carried in the past. Specific providers will be announced later this offseason.

Can I watch Twins Games through non-MLB.TV Streaming Platforms?

Yes. Twins.TV will be available on similar streaming platforms in which Twins Baseball has been carried in the past. Specific platforms will be announced later this offseason.
