‘MSF Podcast’ Returns and Darren Wolfson Joins ‘Wake Up!’

Good morning Minnesota Sports Fam.

With the Vikings’ slow and painful 2020 death now realized, we’ve officially hit the sports abyss of Minnesota winter. But there’s good news.

After a 1.5 year hiatus and many many requests to come back, the Minnesota Sports Fan Podcast has officially returned. We’re ready to blow some minds, have some fun and probably piss some people off. Our first episode back was recorded last night and it released this morning.

It’s a tangent-driven episode loosely based around Gopher basketball and some Vikings. We’re not afraid of politics either. So if you are… then you should stop being so sensitive. Feel free to leave all of your negative political comments here, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Not only is the Minnesota Sports Fan Podcast back… but we’re back twice per week. That’s right, you now get a double-dose of the MSF Podcast to fill your time.

Our plan is to record on Monday and Wednesday nights, and then release them on Tuesday and Thursday mornings on all podcast platforms. We will soon be streaming a video version of the show LIVE to Twitter on recording nights.

Darren Wolfson Joins Stephen Strom on Wake Up!

Our up and coming radio superstar, Stephen Strom, hosts a very short morning show called, ‘Wake Up Minnesota!’. New episodes air THREE days per week and are just 15-20 minutes in length.

Stephen is meant for radio (but does write too) and has a ton of experience behind a microphone, especially given his age. The show will get you caught up on all the major happenings around the local college and pro sports scene and should be an absolute MUST for any Minnesota sports fan.

Plus.. his weekly guest list is fire. One week, you might get a scouting report from an opposing team’s local reporter. The next week, you might get Darren Wolfson (KSTP – SKOR North). He’s also had Chris Autman-Bell, Patrick Reusse and many others (see below).

Dalvin Cook’s 2020 Goals: Prove Everyone Wrong; Lead Vikings to Super Bowl

The Vikings have constructed the entire roster around their star running back, Dalvin Cook. Diggs is no longer in the huddle, partly because that circle wrapped too tightly around #33, leaving too few touches for him.

But while the Vikings have made him the centerpiece of their offensive playbook, questions have arisen about whether Cook is even willing to play under his current contract next season…

We’ve discussed it many times and most recently wrote about it HERE, but the synopsis is pretty simple… NFL’s star running backs have a much shorter lifespan than other positions. Because of that, the best ones have been holding out (or at least threatening to) if they don’t get an extension before the last year of their rookie contract.

On the new Bleeding Purple Podcast we released today, Adam Patrick (The Viking Age) and I spoke with Dalvin Cook. While asking direct questions about his contract wasn’t an option, Adam and I did the best we could to dance around the conversation… and Dalvin sure doesn’t sound like someone who won’t be playing for the purple in 2020 (Dalvin conversation starts at the 26-minute mark).

Dalvin is a chill guy…. but he noticeably got excited toward the end of the conversation, when we he talked about leading the Vikings to their first Super Bowl.

Adam: What would it mean to lead the Vikings to their first Super Bowl?
Dalvin: “Yeah, that’s definitely my goal. Every level, I have accomplished success and took my team to some of the higher games and championship games, at each level. So, that’s definitely my mindset for the Vikings. I want to go win a championship and that’s what we’re working toward right now.”

Dalvin goes on to talk about how much fun it was to beat the Saints last season in the playoffs and we discussed a bunch more, in the short time he was on the show with us…

…he also called Minnesota a city at the end of the show. Classic.

The rumors are true…. I’ve joined the Bleeding Purple Podcast and will be co-hosting episodes with Adam Patrick of The Viking Age, twice per week (airing on Tuesdays and Thursdays), going forward!

I co-hosted the last couple episodes with him over the last month and he asked if I’d come on full-time. After weeks of excruciating negotiations, we’ve come to a deal. This is proof, that if you talk loudly and often enough, anything can happen.

Our first official episode was last night. We talked about the Trent Williams trade rumors, Dalvin Cook, and whether the NFL should cancel the draft because of Coronavirus.
