Prior to today’s official release, news broke that the Vikings will become the first NFL team to ever play back-to-back international games in a season. Then this morning, we even found out that they’ll be hanging out on Netflix for us Christmas Day, too.

Last season, the Minnesota Vikings hosted nine home games, although one took place in London against the New York Jets. This season, they will play eight home games, all of which will take place at U.S. Bank Stadium. Their nine road games include neutral site contests at Croke Park (Dublin, Ireland) and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London, United Kingdom).

The new look Vikings also have a whopping seven nationally televised games on the schedule. That’s clearly a reflection of a team that won 14 games last year. Notables on the 2025 Vikings schedule

The Minnesota Vikings 2025 NFL regular season schedule has plenty of intrigue. Two primetime games to start the year, then two straight games overseas, all in the first five weeks. Then, they get another early bye. One of their late-season road games (week 13) will be in Seattle against last year’s starter, Sam Darnold.

The second-half features six Vikings home games in the final ten weeks. NFC North tilts against the Lions and Packers to close the season could have massive playoff implications. Both contests will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium.

If the Vikings can win four of their six division games, stay undefeated internationally, then beat teams they should, like Atlanta, Seattle, LAC and NYC… that’s already 10 wins for the good guys, with seven more to pick through. Baltimore and Philadelphia are tough opponents, but both have to come to U.S. Bank Stadium.

Improving on a 14-3 record isn’t the expectation, but overall, there’s no reason why the 2025 Minnesota Vikings can’t be better and play deeper into the postseason than the 2024 squad.

Speaking of Christmas Day, we found out via multiple reports on Wednesday morning that the Vikings will play a stream-only contest against the division-rival Detroit Lions on December 25, this season. That news, coming off an official announcement on Tuesday that the Vikings will travel overseas for two regular season games abroad.

Now into the afternoon, however, those aren’t the only only two 2025 regular season games that have been made official by accredited NFL reporters, as more rumored matchups continue to role in every hour.

2025 Minnesota Vikings schedule leaks and rumors

As of 1:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, we know about half of the schedule, and most of the games have been verified by beat writers and other media members who would know. If you would like to skip directly to the full rumored schedule (as we know it so far) scroll down.

The first reported game (per Maria Martin – ABC Atlanta) will be on Sunday Night Football vs the Atlanta Falcons. That game is supposedly scheduled for week 2 (per our friends @TPPSkol), right after the Vikings’ rumored opener on MNF vs the Bears — more on that shortly.

On Thursday Night Football week 8, the Minnesota Vikings will reportedly fly to the west coast to play the Los Angeles Chargers, per Alex Katson (WideLeft.com). Then in week 16, according to Art Stapleton (USA Today), they’ll travel to the Big Apple for a late-season contest vs the New York Giants.

Minnesota’s own Ben Goessling (Star Tribune) concludes, based on Vikings vs Lions in week 17, that the Green Bay Packers will be this year’s week 18 rivalry opponent. He also had week 11 at home vs the Bears. Our friends @TPPSkol first reported week 3 at home against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This would be the first Vikings-Packers regular season finale since 2015, when the Vikings beat Green Bay at Lambeau Field to win the NFC North title.

Vikings vs Bears on MNF to open season

The most notable rumor — which has just recently became verified by Arif Hassan (WideLeft.com) is a week 1 Monday Night Football showdown against the Chicago Bears. This schedule leak was originally reported by @NerdingonNFL (who’s been correctly leaking a bunch of games this morning). The aforementioned Hassan has also confirmed the Vikings’ weeks 3 and 7 matchups against the Bengals and Eagles, respectively.

Accredited NFL reporters out of the Athletic have helped give this rumor some steam, however. Vikings beat writer Alec Lewis retweeted a MNF tease from his colleague out of Chicago, Kevin Fishbain, full with an eyeball emoji and everything. Might as well make it official now…

What NFL fans are waiting for tonight — and what is being leaked today — is the “when” and “where” of these 2025 regular season games; as in what weeks/days they will be played and what platform they will air on. The Minnesota Vikings 2025 opponents have been revealed for months.

With that being said, here is what we know (or think we know) about the Minnesota Vikings 2025 schedule so far (see key at the bottom).

But two “away” games our purple will travel for this season have already been announced. In weeks four and five, the Vikings will play overseas vs two AFC North foes, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns.

This morning, however, we got some more reported insight into the 2025 slate of Minnesota Vikings regular season games. While the double-dip internationally had half the fanbase up in arms, this one is sure to reunite them in celebration.

On Christmas Day, while Vikings fans around the world are sitting down to eat, or open presents or just get away from certain family members, their team will be there for them, either in their living rooms… or even in-person, should you choose to celebrate at U.S. Bank Stadium.

According to Jordan Schultz (FOX Sports), the week 17 contest will take place in Minneapolis and it will be broadcast exclusively by Netflix. Even better: Minnesota’s Xmas Day road opponent… will be the NFC North rival Detroit Lions.

The NFL can’t be held down and this is another example of why. They tend to make smart decisions, like this one. Putting the Minnesota Vikings up against the Detroit Lions in the second to last week of the 2025 regular season should have all sorts of playoff implications tied to it.

Not only that, but this late-season contest comes on the heels of a 2024 season where the 15-2 Lions bullied the 14-3 Vikings, accounting for two of their three losses, forcing them to play on Wild Card weekend during the second best regular season in franchise history.

Not long after the NFL schedule was released, sportsbooks had odds out for every single game. How high are oddsmaker on the new-look Vikings, entering the 2024-25 season? Let’s just say… optimism is hard to find.

The Vikings may have used the first round of the NFL Draft to add Dallas Turner to their defense and replace Kirk Cousins with JJ McCarthy, but their offseason didn’t impress NFL oddsmakers, who remain skeptical about how many wins this new-look team can pile up this season.

Oddsmakers don’t believe in 2024 Minnesota Vikings

As of Thursday morning, DraftKings gives the Vikings an upper hand in only three games this season. Of course, it’s the NFL (any given Sunday) so the spreads are small in most of these matchups.

But no doubt, there’s money to be made if you are optimistic about what Kevin O’Connell can do with his new QBs, and what Brian Flores’ defense will look like now that he has more of a hand-picked roster.

It’s definitely hard to accept that the Vikings are only favored to come out on top in three games of their 17 games next season. But as soon as training camp kicks off and the season gets underway, the optimism is sure to shine through anyway.

At the end of the day, morning-after schedule release odds shouldn’t define the Minnesota Vikings’ 2024-25 season. In reality, anything can happen. The NFL is the league of ultimate parody. Surprise teams jump up and fall every single season. Nevertheless, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Vegas is writing them off already.

Worth noting: DraftKings might only have the Vikings favored in three individual games this season. Yet, they’ve set Minnesota’s over/under win total at 6.5, a number that wouldn’t get them into the playoffs, but a number that is more than double the number of games they are favoring the purple to win.

Weeks five and eight have both been confirmed via announcements from the NFL. Matt Verderame‘s list of leaks at Sports Illustrated has all the same matchups as what is seen above, except for weeks 3, 6, 9, 12 and 13, which he currently has blank.

If the schedule does come out in this order, the early part of the season could prove very difficult, outside of the New York Giants, which won’t necessarily be a cakewalk either.

But going from San Francisco to Houston to Green Bay from weeks two through five, then it’s off to London, before a bye, then Detroit, then the Rams. Of course, every year is a new year and what looks like a difficult schedule now, might look completely different after games start to get played.
