He was a part of the legendary “Bomba Squad” lineup that made history with their home run hitting power 2019.

He also spent time with the San Francisco Giants, Atlanta Braves, Washington Nationals, and Los Angeles Angels. After announcing his retirement on December 24th, he’s now making his way back to the Twins organization.

Former Minnesota Twins IF Ehire Adrianza rejoins club for front office role

Ehire Adrianza might be stepping away from playing, but he’s not leaving the game behind. The Minnesota Twins announced today that Adrianza is coming back to the organization, this time as the Assistant of Player Development.

Adrianza is now steering his career towards player development, concentrating especially on infielders—a role he knows all too well from his days on the diamond. He will be instrumental across the entire organization, from the grassroots of the minors to the pinnacle of the major leagues, imparting his wealth of knowledge and experience wherever it can make the most impact.

Adrianza wrapped up a 12-season run in the majors with a career batting average of .237. Over that time, he notched 33 hits and 22 home runs, putting a solid cap on his time in the big leagues.

During his four seasons with the Twins, Ehire Adrianza hit 13 home runs and racked up 199 hits in 788 at-bats, giving him a solid .253 batting average during his time with the team.

Now, he’s bringing his experience and knowledge back to the organization, which is huge for the younger players. Hearing from someone who’s been through it all can make a big difference for their development.

Former Minnesota Twin Retiring After 12 MLB Seasons https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-twins/minnesota-twins-news/ehire-adrianza-announces-retirement/ Wed, 25 Dec 2024 02:07:57 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=58518 There comes a time when you must hang up your cleats. That hits differently for every player. The Minnesota Twins have seen a few good ones call it quits in recent seasons. While not all of them have the same career accomplishments, looking back is always a worthy exercise.

A four-year Minnesota Twins run may have been his best

At 35 years old, Venezuelan utility man Ehire Adrianza is calling it a career. He spent 12 seasons in the major leagues, and played one-third of those years with the Minnesota Twins. His retirement announcement was posted on Instagram Tuesday evening.

“This journey has been incredibly challenging, filled with ups and downs, but every step along the way has been a blessing that I cherish immensely. Since my childhood, I dreamed of the possibility of winning a World Series, a goal that once seemed so distant and almost unattainable.  However, thanks to my effort, dedication, and the unwavering support of each one of you, that dream has become a reality.  I still find it hard to believe that I have had the honor of playing more than a decade in the Major Leagues.  I never imagined I would achieve so much, and it’s astonishing to reflect on this experience.”

In total, Adrianza played in 624 major league games. He put up a .237/.307/.352 slash line while playing every position on the diamond except for catcher. With Minnesota from 2017 through 2020, Adrianza experienced some very successful teams.

His six home runs in 2018 went down as a career-high, and his 103 OPS+ across 83 games in 2019 was the best production he ever saw. Adrianza leaves the game with just shy of $10 million in career earnings, and he won a World Series with the Atlanta Braves in 2021.

Adrianza played the utility man role that currently is occupied by Willi Castro. His versatility is something that both Paul Molitor and Rocco Baldelli leaned heavily on. With just 50 games since the 2021 season, it appears to be a good time for him to move on with life.

The Minnesota Twins posted a 7-1 victory over the Mariners last night but the runs that touched home for the away team weren’t like the those from previous games this season. The Twins saw just one ball go over the fence… Not what we are used to seeing from this ball club, but in a sense, it is something that can be encouraging moving forward.

When a team relies too much on the Homerun (like Seattle) and you aren’t in-fact hitting a lot of homeruns, your offense is going to struggle. Just look to the other dugout for a perfect example. The Mariners have lost 9 of their last 11 games, after starting the year 13-2. Last night saw the Twins get just the one solo homerun, with the other runs coming from 2 sacrifice flies, 2 singles and a double. The Twins can hit homeruns, yes, but they also have a lineup that can manufacture runs with base hits and productive outs. Moving forward, that will be vital to this team’s success. The more ways you can attack a team with your sticks, the better.

Our latest W, paired with the Indians 5-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, has pushed the Twins (29-15) lead in the AL Central to a season high 5 1/2 games and only a 1/2 game behind the Astros (30-15), for the best record in the game. It’s an easy mantra at this point, keep hitting, keep pitching, keep winning. Easier said then done, but whatever Rocco is saying, these players are hearing.

Adrianza’s homerun last night pushed the season total to 81 for the Twins, which places them 3rd in the Majors. Just as we all predicted. I think we all knew they would hit, just not everything in sight.

Jose Berrios takes the bump tonight, looking to get back on track after getting hit around pretty good his last time out against Detroit. The Twins set out for their 30th win in just their 45th game. Efficiency at its finest.

As you stumble into the house (or her/his house if your night was better than mine) on this suddenly cold late Friday/early Saturday, I am here to bore you with another Twins victory. This time, it was in Seattle, the 2nd time in a row. It was an easy glide to the W this time. Martin Perez pitched 6.2 innings and only gave up one run.

On offense… it was more of the same. Lots of runs. There weren’t as many homeruns hit this time around, compared to Thursday night, so that was a nice change of pace. There was one though… it was Ehire Adrianza showing stupid people (like me) why sending him back down to the minors would be a bad idea.

[/et_pb_code][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.7″ header_font=”||||||||”]

The Twins got 6 of their last 7 runs in the 4th and 5th innings, where Adrianza collected more RBI and Max Kepler cemented a huge performance. If it wasn’t so late and business wasn’t taken care of so handily, I might actually be a little bit more excited about the Twins now being up a 5.5 games in the Central Division.

But at this point, the playoffs seem to be a forgone conclusion.

Here are some other highlights from the night (Ken Griffey Jr. was in the FSN booth):

Jose Berrios Tosses Complete Game Gem as Twins Tread Injury-Ridden Water https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-twins/jose-berrios-tosses-complete-game-gem-as-twins-tread-injury-ridden-water/ https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-twins/jose-berrios-tosses-complete-game-gem-as-twins-tread-injury-ridden-water/#respond Fri, 08 Jun 2018 13:18:59 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=10004

Coming off of back-to-back losses to the AL Central bottom-feeding White Sox, the Minnesota Twins had Mr. José Orlando Berríos take the mound for Thursday afternoon’s series finale.

Only a mere 2 hours and 14 minutes after Berríos threw the game’s first pitch, the Puerto Rico native put a proverbial bow on Minnesota’s nerve calming victory:

Less than two months ago, Berríos finished a marvelous 7.0 inning showing vs the same division foe with 11 Ks and 0 BBs. During Thursday’s “Cradle to the Grave” performance, the third-year big leaguer fanned 10 without, once again, rendering a single walk (109 pitches, 6 hits allowed).

Bada bing, bada boom. Just like that, the talented RHP is flirting with an extremely familiar LHP from recent Twins’ history:

José Berríos 2018 Stats: 7-5 W/L, 3.66 ERA, 74.2 IP, 84 SO, 0.92 WHIP

The win, which included HRs from Ehire Adrianza (2), and the on-fire duo of Eduardo Escobar (12), and Eddie Rosario (14), moved the Twins’ overall record to 27-32. With Cleveland taking the day off (lazy), Minnesota will officially enter the weekend 4.5 games back of the division leader.

While the below .500 W/L isn’t meeting preseason expectations, considering the Twins’ aggressive issues surrounding health, shit could be a lot worse. Hopefully, for the years remaining 100+ contests, the injury bug isn’t so attracted to Paul Molitor’s squad.

In the interim, before Target Field welcomes Mike Trout and the Angles for the weekend’s three game set, here’s an update on a Mount Rushmore’s worth of recovery processes:

Ervin Santana:

According to additional reports, Santana “will still need to complete a full ramp-up before he returns to the majors, but it seems promising that his earlier setback has only required a brief respite.”

Joe Mauer:

Byron Buxton:

Per Phil Miller of the Star Tribune, the centerfielder’s “pain reduction” in his toe “has been slow.” There has only been “moderate progress towards his return.”

Trevor May:

The All-Star game is a little over a month away. As you can see by this 2015 gem, May’s reinstatement comes at an appropriate time:
