Early this afternoon, Kwesi & Co agreed to terms with former Minnesota State – Mankato Maverick, Chris Reed, a 6-year veteran who played in 14 games for the Indianapolis Colts last season.

Reed has a much more impressive PFF resume than his RG competition with the Vikings, especially during the last few seasons. He was a backup for the Colts but got a legitimate amount of playing time, and started six games.

The Mankato alum started all 14 of the games he played with the Carolina Panthers in 2021 and, even with the increased workload, held his PFF grades. In fact, the more he’s been relied upon, the better he’s played. Chris Reed’s 1,400+ snaps in 2020 and 2021 count for over half of his career total (2,244). Yet, his PFF grades of 63.0 and 67.2 (respectively) were two of his best.

After this limited early research, Reed looks like way-too favorite to win the Minnesota Vikings starting job at right guard. If Kwesi throws enough spaghetti at the wall, one noodle has to stick, right?
