Of course, the Minnesota Vikings are 3-0 and Kevin O’Connell has his squad rolling. That means they haven’t seen a ton of adversity though, and the former New England Patriots coach would like to see them experience it.

Minnesota Vikings need to play from behind says Bill Belichick

It’s a weird thing to suggest a team needs to play from behind. Ideally the goal would be to never experience such a situation. So far the Minnesota Vikings have done a good job to outscore their opponents. How they play when trailing could be telling though, and Belichick wants to find out.

“I think the Vikings are eventually going to have to prove that they can play from behind. They’ve been great from ahead. They’ve had most of their defensive production come when they’ve been ahead, which is great. Offensively they’ve been able to score and get ahead. At some point, if that levels out, then how is that going to work?

What Belichick is actually describing here is adversity. The Minnesota Vikings have dealt with more of it in the form of injuries than they have actual on-field results. There will come a time that Kevin O’Connell needs to push the offense to orchestrate a comeback. We haven’t seen that yet, but it is coming. That will also put additional pressure on the defense to stop the opposition.

The schedule has been a gauntlet thus far for the Vikings and it doesn’t let up any time soon. At Lambeau Field on Sunday, oddsmakers have Minnesota as underdogs yet again. That reality suggests they will find themselves trailing at some point. It is there that we will see how O’Connell can work as he tries to push Sam Darnold.

Minnesota’s offense has been clicking on all cylinders to start the season. Almost all of their exposure has come while in the driver’s seat though. If they can continue to respond when needing to force the action a little bit, it will only further substantiate their strong start.

Last year the Minnesota Vikings won big at Lambeau Field. They will attempt to do so again this time around. If they get behind Jordan Love or Malik Willis, a comeback victory would only make it sweeter.

ESPN Insider Predicts Kirk Cousins, Bill Belichick Both Land in Atlanta https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-vikings/insider-predicts-kirk-cousins-bill-belichick-atlanta-falcons/ Wed, 24 Jan 2024 17:41:51 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=47033 It’s always NFL season, even when it’s the offseason, and the Minnesota Vikings are out to prove that over the next few months, as they make franchise altering decisions on key roster pieces like Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson and Danielle Hunter.

But the Vikings are in a bit of a salary cap crunch. And with Cousins set to be a free agent, at least for now, he’s being rumored, predicted and courted to land elsewhere. One of the most popular destinations of choice, outside of Minnesota, is Atlanta. His wife is from there and they desperately need a good quarterback.

But that’s not all the Falcons need. They need a head coach too, and legendary former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has been the leading candidate to land the job for over a week.

Kirk Cousins and Bill Belichick to Atlanta Falcons?

Well on Wednesday, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler (ESPN) took both storylines a bit further, predicting that both Cousins and Belichick will end up in Atlanta together, when the dust settles on this offseason,

The feeling out of New England was that Belichick planned to target an established veteran quarterback for the Patriots in 2024. If he gets the Atlanta job, as some expect, he can follow a similar blueprint.

Cousins very well might re-sign with Minnesota, but if not, the Falcons offer several high-end skill players on offense and an improving defense — they’re the proverbial quarterback away. “[Belichick] can help a talented yet underachieving team, and Atlanta is that,” an AFC executive said. “Cousins would be a great fit there.”

This isn’t the first time that a possible Kirk Cousins + Bill Belichick partnership in Atlanta has surfaced. Last week, Kirk was making his rounds with different media outlets to promote his sponsorship with Tostitos.

While making his rounds, Cousins was asked about how he would feel if an opportunity presented itself to play under Belichick. Cousins’ answer went viral.

“I’m not going to turn down an opportunity to play with a future Hall of Fame coach, but we’ll have to see where March leads. It’s just a lot of unknowns right now.”
